No. Your question is totally clueless. Most are against the introduction of any romantic element into the relationships within the rank and file, and the risk that adds of divisive situations (like one soldier making a pass at another, two soldiers competing for the attentions of another, or the emotional wreckage of breakups within a combat unit). There was a similar general reaction when women were integrated into the service academies and combat ranks 20-30 years ago.
Where there are no romantic issues to worry about, there are fewer obstacles to achieving friction-less teamwork, which makes the team that much harder for a foe to beat. Combat presents life-or-death scenarios all the time, where distractions can be fatal. And nothing's a greater distraction than thoughts about romance.
But you seem to assume the only opposition to homosexuality - in any manner or situation - must be based on fear. That's arrogant, narcissistic, and naive. (Oh, and incorrect.)

Not necessarily. The gay soldiers I have known have said it is only the Republicans that feel that way, and that many a straight soldier has found very good reasons to allow gay soldiers in the tent on a gold winter's night.

Hardly, homophobic means fear of the same and if they were scared of other people of their own gender I don't think they would choose the military as a career option.

No, we have don't ask don't tell. I say don't push it, the gays are lucky they have that. If those school push out the military we need to stop the funds. I am so dam sick and tired of a this crap. It goes against nature, so quit shoving that way of life down people throats that do not believe in it, which happens to be the majority of people.

Lawl.
Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
Not "I am homophobic, GTFO, I FEAR YOU."
Besides.
90% of them joke about homosexuality.
My recruiter, my Fiance and I had a field day out of Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
Thus, they do not fear them.

No they are not afraid of homosexuals. They are just not at liberty to discuss or ask about anyone's sexual orientation because of the nature of the job and the rules they are required to adhere to.
