Because they dont have positive male role models, and no supervision, and poor education about their self worth and their sexuality.
And probably because studly meat cakes are posting their shirtless bodies on Y!Answers pumping up their raging libidos.

I would imagine they have babies b/c they got pregnant (not using contraceptives, contraceptive failure) and didn't want to have an abortion because of moral or religious reasons. As for being poor, uneducated and living with their parents: it's tough for someone under 20 with a baby to hold down a good job, attend college and care for a child at the same time. I would bet they don't think it's a good way of life but they're trying to make the best of it, just like anyone else in a bad situation. As for welfare...wouldn't they have just gone on welfare if they were going to instead of living with mom and dad?
Whats that? You didn't want a serious answer to your questions and were just looking to make broad generalizations and pass judgements? Oh...sorry I ruined it with a logical response.
Btw, you should be happy to learn that the number of teen pregnancies in the US has been declining for over a decade.

Because the mentality of teen-agers these days is that of sexually charged, and sexually frustrated young adults. They're looking for an outlet for their frustrations; Sex and drugs are the only ways they see out. The higher teen pregnancy rate is an effect of this, poor education about Sex, Sexuality, Protection, and Disease are also huge causes as well. Not to mention irresponsible parenting, and a poor report between parents and children.
As for the poor, uneducated, living with parents part... They're probably "poor" by your standards because they have a kid, and bills to take care of. They probably live with their parents because they're still underage, or because living on their own got too difficult. They're probably uneducated because they got pregnant in high-school and had to drop out. But some major cities, such as Madison, WI (where I live), have alternative high school programs for pregnant teens, and even the fathers can attend.
I've never heard any of the girls in the SAPAR program describe their life as good, it's always a struggle no matter how old, or mature you think you are. And while I am not in the program, and I am not a teacher, I do attend an Affiliated Alternatives High School Program, and I have met with these girls. They do not like the situation they're in, but they're getting the proper education to care for their child(ren).
AND if you have a problem with Women being MUCH stronger individuals, and stronger willed than men then you need a severe reality check.

I see 16 year old girls with babies, or 14 year old pregnant girls all the time! It's ridiculous. I'm 19, and if I had a baby NOW, never mind at 16, I would feel like my life is over. I mean living off of your parents is no way to live. And If I got pregnant now, I wouldn't be able to finish school, or go out and party, and do things all college students do. I feel like there should be phases of our lives, you know? And I am no where NEAR the baby phase, ha. I just want to relax. Kudos to those who can handle kids at a young age, but shame on those 15/16 year old girls who just weren't careful enough, because now, chances are, their child won't have a terrific life. If those girls didn't have kids at such a young age, and had them later on in their life, when they were ready, their child probably would have had such a better life. It's hard to explain but it's so true. And then there are those young girls (I'm talking under 18) that think they can handle a baby, and they actually WANT one. They say that, and try for one without even thinking of the responsibilities that will be thrust upon them. Sorry to rant and rave, but this is one of the things that bothers me the most. Although, most girls that are 18+, I don't mind. I wouldn't chose to live my life that way, but at least girls 18 and older are actually at a legal age.

It's all about instant gratification. They want a cute little baby right NOW, and they just act is if it's a pet. They don't think about how it's a real human and how much work it really is, not to mention how much it costs!

Guess what buddy- I'm 21 and a parent. I graduated HS a year early. I will have 2 bachelors degrees in May- I just need 3 more classes to graduate. I have lived on my own since I was 15 years old (emancipated). I own two vehicles. I raise my children alone. We live in a very nice neighborhood. My children have NEVER went without food, clothes that fit or anything else that they need.
Just because someone is young and a parent does not mean they are poor, live with mommy and daddy and don't take care of their children. Hell I know a few moms in their late 20s and 2 in their early 30's that have children of their own and live with their moms and they aren't as educated as I am.
Also I LOVE how this is all about the girls- girls do NOT get pregnant on their own.

I'm 19 and pregnant, but am not poor, uneducated, or living with my parents. This baby was unplanned (I was on birth control), but that doesn't mean my child will not have a wonderful life. I'm a sophomore at one of the most prestigious universities in the country, and am able to pay my rent, my bills, and have money left over for other things.
Yes, some girls do get pregnant, but maybe it is their choice to live at home with their parents, for financial and emotional reasons. Perhaps they merely had to put their educations on hold to become mothers. Whatever the circumstances, it really is none of your business. Please refrain from generalizing an entire group of people, unless you know each member of that group personally.
EDIT: I'm lying? Would you like me to send you my transcript? Or my bank statement? How about my tuition bill that shows each charge for school, and my academic scholarships? I was not planning on getting pregnant. I was on birth control -- I'm the 0.1%, so screw you for calling me stupid. Oh, and by the way, if you would like me to send you any of the above, I will gladly oblige.
Just because you couldn't do it, doesn't mean that others cannot.

I agree with the other women who answered previously.... broad generalizations aren't questions either; they're opinions.
In my experience, most women under the age of 20 I've met with children are neither poor, nor uneducated. I only know of one person collecting "welfare" for their child, and they are 28 years old. So, age isn't the issue here.
And if you want to pose a question such as this, attacking a socio-economic group of "uneducated" people, please don't sound uneducated yourself and use proper grammar when phrasing a question. If this were a serious question, you would've at least reviewed the syntax and worded it properly.
