i got a 2nd hole in both ears about 3 weeks ago. yesterday mid day the back of the stud in my left ear REALLY started hurting and was sore to the touch i went home and twisted it and used the cleaning solution claires provided (i always do twice a day) and green stuff was on the cotton ball. my mom looked and said it was infected so last night i used some hydrogen peroxide and then later i went to bed. it was SO sore i couldnt lay on that side i almost cried it hurt so bad. this morning i put some peroxide on it felt better...no more green gunk. but i just put some more on and i did at 4:00 but when i put it on it like bubbles around the back....

how long will it take for this to heal??
any advice??

THANKS

Keep using the hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball to clean your earlobe two to three times a day (holding the cotton ball on the infected area for a few minutes each) and then follow by applying neosporin.
Also make sure you clean your her earring with hydrogen peroxide each time before re-inserting it. Your ear should clear up within a few days.

To answer your concern about the peroxide bubbling, here's some info:
The reason why it foams is because blood and cells contain an enzyme called catalase. Since a cut or scrape contains both blood and damaged cells, there is lots of catalase floating around.

When the catalase comes in contact with hydrogen peroxide, it turns the hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) into water (H2O) and oxygen gas (O2).

2H2O2 --> 2H2O + O2
Catalase does this extremely efficiently -- up to 200,000 reactions per second. The bubbles you see in the foam are pure oxygen bubbles being created by the catalase.
Hydrogen peroxide does not foam in the bottle or on your skin because there is no catalase to help the reaction to occur.

Try putting a little bit of antibiotic ointment around the piercing. Do this twice a day. This will help with any infection. Clean it with peroxide several times a day. If it continues over a day or two more, you need to take the earring out and let it heal. I had this happen to me. Even if you used gold, if the person piercing your ear did not follow health and safety guidelines, you could have gotten an infection. Hope you feel better soon!

You weren't using gold (14K or above) or surgical steel posts were you? That is what is recommended to put in once you are pierced.

Keep it very clean, only use what I have stated above for posts.
