but I guess the National Lottery took over as the big player when it was launched in 1994. Anyone still do the football pools? Are there still big wins to be had there? Anyone play anything other than the pools or lottery as their weekly flutter?

quite a few years ago we had a syndicate at work for the pools one night we thought we had got 24 points, turned out to be 23½, but we still got about £3000 each also had a few wins of over £500, not bad when there was 15 of us in it.
done the lottery since it started and the biggest win i had is £35 for 4 numbers

My dad did the pools for a few weeks but he gave up! Now he has the odd GG flutter and this week he even tried out a new greyhound system he got in the post.
I do the Irish Lottery as there are more chances to win and better ways to play. Give it a go but you can only get a ticket from your local bookies. Good luck :)

Some people reckon you have more chance of winning on the pools. I win more on the scratch cards than the lottery.
I have had £300 premium bonds for about 2 years and won £50 a couple of months ago, and of course I can still cash in my bonds.

You want to really gamble try playing the commodities market.

Offices still have sports pools.
