Whats the difference between the two systems? I want to play Guitar Hero - but don't know which system to buy.

reasons why ps3 is better:
graphics
games
no need for memory cards
most games that come out on ps3 the ps2 can't handle
HD gaming (its so f@#$ing AWESOME)
free online gaming
can play blu-ray and DVD movies
wireless sixaxis controller for ps3 (and soon to come dualshock 3 available in asia right now but not yet in western contries)
yeah and guitar hero is also better on ps3
basically what you're asking is "which is better ps1 or ps2?" the next gen is always better and more technologically advanced...

Get a 60 or 80gb PS3. It's basically a next gen system with a PS2 inside (or software emulated) so you can play most PS2 games and all PS3 games on one system.

if all that you want to do is play guitar hero i would get a ps2. the gameplay on ps2 and ps3 is basicly the same for both and the graphics really dont matter for that game
i would go with a ps2 or nintendo wii

If that's ALL that you want to play - go with the PS2...
There are NO compatability issues there - and you don't have to buy TWO copies of the game in order to get a second guitar ;);););)

Guitar hero has downloadable/purchasable content for both PS3 and Xbox 360 just so you know.

I recommend XBOX 360, but PS3 has better graphics, is an HD DVD player, songs and so on. the controllers are wirelessa and stuff. GH3 is available for both, but PS3 has better graphics, but PS2 games and GH3 games and everthing else is WAY cheaper

i reccomend the ps3 but price wise and game selection wise the ps2 is better
but if you care about hd, blu-ray, wireless controller, sixaxis, bluetooth, and can baisicly read any memery card, the ps3 is way better
