Can you be arrested for hitchhiking in a state where it is illegal or just a fine.

I am wondering of it is jail time or like a fine (ya know money)

You can be picked up and charged with a misdemeanor. Fines have to be attached to something like a license, in most cases the hitch hiker won't have a license or even an ID. How would they know who to write the fine out too?

You can be arrested, but it depends on the state. I think california is a place where you could be arrested.

i think if it's your first time getting caught they give you a fine. and if it happens again they put you in jail.
