I'm looking for a place where I can get my daughter's ears pierced in Omaha NE. I want to have it done professionally... which means no Claire's. Like at a tattoo parlor.

First off, I've done the research on piercing. Claire's uses piercing posts that are too short to allow for the swelling that naturally occurs with piercing. Secondly, most tattoo/piercing parlors use disposable needles for piercing. These needles come pre packaged and are sterilized. If I had any doubt about the tat parlor, I would not take my daughter there... but I think that piercing with a needle is far superior to using a gun to pierce anything. The needle slides in easily, where the gun punches a hole in your body. Why do I seem to be the only person who has a problem with that idea?

That's great you don't want to get your daughter pierced with a piercing gun. I'm happy someone has brains and learns how evil piercing guns are for them and their children :)
You could try calling around to local piercing places, to see if they'd pierce your daughters lobes with your consent.
A piercing place I go to across the border from ya (I'm in Minnesota) Will pierce children's lobes. Let me see if I can find the website where they say that...
"We will do earlobe piercings on minors as young as 8 years old, but a consultation, and a 24-hour waiting period are usually required for anyone under 16. Please call or stop into the studio for further details"

Despite what "Mizz Emma" might think - Tattoo parlours are REQUIRED BY LAW to pass the strictest health and sterilization requirements...
As does ANY place that does on-site piercing!!!
Regardless of WHERE you go - they will use a FRESH (as in NEVER removed from the sealed package) needle for the piercing gun...
I'd say that there is NOTHING wrong with a store like Claire's - but make sure that wherever you DO go follows these simple sanitization steps (and REPORT THEM if they don't) ;););)

You can usually get ears pierced at a local mall at a jewlry stand. I wouldn't go to Claires but thats my opinion.

Claire's is a proffesional ear piercer, perfectly sterilized and everything, and I really think you're 8-year-old should have it done there.

Claires is pretty professional!! DONT GO TO A TATTOO PARLOR. do you want your 8 year old girl to be exposed to that?? she'll be scarred for life! plus, tattoo parlors have ALOT of germs in them. claires sterilizes thier products. and a tattoo parlor is NOWHERE NEAR professional.
