This name can be found in early 1600s Germany around Wurtenburg. Remember, "Germany" wasn't a country then.

It's also known in Hungary and Czechoslovakia area in the early 1700s.

Kantor is a German word for an occupation similar to asst. preacher or minister of music /choirmaster as we know those today.
