We found a bird on our front porch and it totally freaked out. It flew away now, but do you know the kind?
We live in Southeren Wisconsin. It might be a pet?

It's a Mouring Dove. We have a lot of them around our house. They are usually a very gentle bird. Feed it, some cracked corn if you have some. They are a wild bird, but maybe someone has been feeding it, and it became confused and came to your house. We feed them in our yard all of the time. They stay in flocks. Maybe it is lost from it's flock. Maybe it will stay around your property. One of my favorites, I had one that was really tame, and would come to be fed every morning. Sadly it quit coming. There is a hunting season for them here in Ohio, and I think my neighbor killed my pet.

Mourning Dove

It is a common mourning dove- they aren't the smartest of birds, which is probably why it was freaking out. They make a cooing sound you may have heard before.

They are not pets and are illegal to have them as pets, though there is legislation trying to open a hunting season in wisconsin, but I am pretty sure it failed.
