"Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, to the glory of God, that Jesus Christ IS Lord!"

This has just been quoted to me in response to another question I asked.

Why is that a requirement of God? Isn't it a bit sycophantic? It also doesn't sound much fun if that's what we've got to do all day in Heaven.

You've already made some personal decisions based on the nature of Christians and our God. The use of the word sycophantic displays this clearly, except that a Christian in Heaven has nothing else to gain. It does no good to be a "yes man" when everybody is on equal footing. There are no positions of power in Heaven for humans, and wealth is rendered pointless as nothing is purchased or traded. Value is based on supply and demand right?

You would have been a bit more clever to call us Sycophants while here on earth, because once in Heaven, your true intent and allegiance has already been established.

God wants to get praised and worshiped to because god is our creater, but why does everyone keep calling god a him, god is not a man. What is God anyway, I mean we have had gods before the time of Jesus, and people back then were narrow minded and did not understand science so they made something up, I mean the egyptians believed in sun and moon gods for god sake!, they were just narrow-minded, the same as they are today. You have to understand, that the bible has been distored greatly over time, and there are many relgions claiming to "ALL" be true. There can not be 100's of gods, only one. I hate how most people think that something bad will happen to them if they go aganist god of don't pray or go to chruch, because if there is a god, then why would something so powerful who is the source of all good, want to harm anyone for not believing it or following a certain religion, it just does not make any sense. Relgion is manipulating our world and destroying it. Jesus is soposed to be the son of god, but aren't we all gods sons or daughters. He was a great man who was selfless person and believed in helping everyone. That's probably why people back then think he is some kind of powerful person, aka " The son of god". But people back then had never known anyone so kind and wonderful, so they just assumed that he was some great holy saint from heaven. The truth is, he was just a really loving kind hearted man who cared about people. I am suprised no one today can accept that fact.

That verse you quoted refers to what every one will do when Jesus returns to take His Church back to heaven with Him. At the judgment , every knee( even those who cursed Him all their lives), & every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. What it means is, you can curse God all you want while you are living, but there will come a day when you will see you have been wrong all that time, but by then it's too late to gain entrance into heaven.

Well,Well,Well the god question.....first of all there is no god..
a bunch of jackassess got together and came up with an idea to control the masses. You see humans need something to believe in, with their poor pathetic lives as it is and being followers not leaders, a god figure would be just the thing, something to answer to, something to dictate what we should or shouldn't do, something to look forward to at the end of all of our suffering and our plights. If we were to just live our life knowing that at the end, when we die that would be it, thats it......no after, no heaven, no hell........thats it. All we will become is basically..........."worm-food". We would all pull our hair out in disbelief because we crave dictatorship. Hense the "god" figure. People get off it. We all know there is no god. We are all brainwashed since the beginning of time to believe in someone or something that none of use have ever seen. Based on a "Book" (The Bible).......so flawed not worth the paper its written on......oh give me a break.

God does not require us to bow down before him. We choose to do this because we feel it is an apropriate gesture to show our love towards our lord. If you seek the answer to this problem maybe you should ask yourself "should i really be bowing down before something that i cannot see? Is this really the path that i want to take?" if so then you have chosen Gods path. This means that you will most likely pray for the things that you desire. Praying is often looked apon as a for of praise to God. People take religion too far, but if they want to believe that God put you on this earth to serve then they should do as they wish, because without the non-believers who do not believe they should serve, who would be served?

Wow. I have never met anyone that doesn't think they should worship God that actually knows Him. I take it as a PRIVELEDGE to bow down and praise God!!!! You should!!! Do you know what He did for you? He died on the cross for YOUR sins so that you would have the chance to go to Heaven and be with Him and all of your other loved ones that are believers for eternity!!!!! Jesus Christ is the 1 AND ONLY that deserves to be praised and glorified!!!!!!!!! God loves us more than ANYBODY does!!!- we never did ANYTHING to deserve to be loved!!!!!!!!! God created us- He didn't HAVE to create us or create anything else in the world, but He DID b/c He loves us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do hope that that answers your question.

Ummm... it's not a requirement...Most people practically bow down to there Hollywood idols and they're nobody's compared to God. You will bow down someday even if you don't think so today. It will be your choice, something you will do out of respect and awe. He's God....look at all He's done for you, he made you. To those of you who will think negatively and focus on the evil of this world, blaming it on God and asking, "Why me?", You have a choice in how your life turns out. And why not ask, "Why not me?", none of us deserve any more than the next guy.

it isn't what we do all day every day in heaven. in some way shape or form however, you will be praising your God.

this verse refers to the end of time. you'll either meet Jesus Christ as savior or as the sovereign judge of the world. either way, you will bow and confess that He is Lord, you wont be able to resist it. that isn't to say it is forced. but the very appearance of God can make hearts burst with joy or disintegrate with terror.

He created mankind to bring glory to Himself, He does all things that way, so you will know that there is none like Him and that He is the one true God. His plan was and is for man to submit to His will, so that He may give you victory over all things in life. God made us to go hand-in-hand with Himself, we give Him glory, He gives us all things.

he does not require us to do that. Think of God as your Mom, or your Dad, who loves you so much.

Now realize God loves you a million times more than your parents ever would. Do you think your Mom would require you to bow down and praise her? No she wont.

You have to think out of the box. Sometimes you do praise your Mom after her hard days work, because you love her right.
