And the bible was written by men who were inspired by god. So everything in the bible is God's view. The writers couldn't have made up stuff, or the whole content of the bible is questionable.

1 Corinthians 14
34-36
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

1 Timothy 2
11-15
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing.

Not forgetting that all the deciples and apostles were men. The only important woman Jesus' mother couldn't possibly be a man anyway.

What's with people like Halfadan? Choosing her own unknown verses and interpretting falsely so it seems unsexist, TOTALLY ignoring the bible verses I have QUOTED (NOT taken "out of context").

christian women are so stuck up, it's written all over the scriptures that women are to conceive and to bring up her husbands kids. ALL OVER IT. They think they can come up with crappy verses with jesus saying everyone's one and think it's ok. They're stuck up.

Let's look at the verses you quoted (this is the millionth time I've had to explain these, by the way):

The passage in 1 Corinthians 14 is about keeping order in the church. And please note that it says women should LEARN in silence.

Allow me to use an analogy. Picture a classroom. Now imagine that instead of asking the teacher questions about what's being taught, or saving the questions until after class, students decided to yell across the classroom to their buddies to ask what the teacher meant. Can you imagine how disruptive that would be? Why should a church service be any different?

Obviously, there was a church in Corinth that this was a problem, or it never would have been written.

As for the passage in 1 Timothy, there are two key words people ALWAYS overlook. They are "LEARN" and "USURP." Go back to the passage in 1 Corinthians 14. Wait, aren't they saying the same thing? Yes, yes they are. "LEARN in silence." What they boil down to is "don't be disruptive" and "don't try to steal someone else's authority."

Consider also, that it was WOMEN who first discovered the empty tomb. Deborah was a prophetess and a judge (Judges 4). Esther saved her people from genocide. In Romans 16, Paul had all kinds of praise for women who were leaders in the early church. Mary, mother of Jesus, was in the upper room with the disciples at Pentecost.

No, the Bible is not sexist. It does promote the idea that men and women are to have two separate roles, but that's only natural. It never says that men are "better" in any way.

You aren't ripping the passages out of scriptural context, so much as historical, spiritual, and cultural context. And the most IMPORTANT context is spiritual!

Primarily because it was written by men in a patriarchal society where women were treated as property. But I don't think Jesus was sexist. He always seem to have time for women and his followers included women. I also don't think the radical Paul was sexist. After all he mentioned a female apostle (Romans 16: 7), and taught that men and women were equal before God. 1 Cor 14:33-36 could be a later insertion because early texts diifer about where it is and Timothy was probable written by someone else - let me call him the reactionary Paul.

Ruith is one a very tender book and Songs of Solomn is a great celebration of sexuality

These are ancient documents written in times when it was culturally inappropriate to do those sort of things.

Also common sense dictates that some men will never listen to or be subjugated under a woman's leadership and so if you ask me a woman being the sole leader of a church is an unhappy occurrence for those men in her care.

There are plenty of occurences however of how Jesus treated women. He listened to them and treated them equally. Further you are mistaken about Mary being the only woman, there were many women in the gospels and also in the old testament. God uses women alot Sarah, Ruth, Esther, Deborah, Rebecca, Mary Magdalene, Mary.

I sometimes wonder if the women of that time were not happy with their role in society. Rather than competing as a man in the 21st Century.

The bible is sexest by today standards because it was written between 2 and 4 thousand years ago. The cultural and moral standard were very different from what they are to day. The men that wrote the bible were products of their cultures. In many cases what was acceptable back then is not acceptable today. That is not to say that by today's standards, they were correct in there treatment of woman. They just reflected the culture they lived in. Just remember The prophets of GOD are human and make mistakes just like any other and have personal shortcomings like anyone else.

The Bible itself is unquestionably not changed. it fairly is an historic rfile and few might stand for it being replaced. besides the undeniable fact that, there's a time-examined "technique" of enhancing biblical perspectives. that is definitely that once a whilst, whilst society alterations, human beings conveniently "forget" that particular passages are there, and flow those verses over to the long record of different Bible passages that are fairly often skipped over. So case in point, you will not even hit upon a fundamentalist Christian who obeys the hot testomony regulation to not devour blood. You hardly discover Christians immediately obsessed on celibacy like Paul became. you will hit upon some women persons who conceal their heads, as Paul says to do, besides the undeniable fact that that is uncommon. And so with the sexist perspectives, they are going to be interpreted away whilst human beings finally understand they are troublesome.

Again, we cannot judge the word of God by our cultural thinking.
If we allow the Bible to speak, and we listen, we find it has everything to do with the ROLES God determined for each.
Also, there were disciples that were women.
If the names are read that Paul wrote and gave credit to, we find many women's names. Apparently, they did much more than they have gotten credit for.
Paul even chose a woman to carry the important letter of Romans to the Romans.
In every age, each generation has had to come to grips with the same thing...adjusting themselves to God's rule.
In our day, we are no different. In our case, the accusation of sexism, misogynism is prevalent.
The fact is, the word of God is inspired. To doubt this, to make the accusation men somehow planted their own prejudices is to make the word of God less than inspired.
It is to disbelieve God.

It's NOT!!! Don't take it out of context!!!

Mt 12:25
And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

God gave each gender it's own assignment to complement each other, NOT put one over the other. Read it ALL, in it's context!!!

Eph 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
If one uses the "biblical" definition of the word "love" they'll see that it's a partnership, NOT a hierarchy!!!

It is sexist because society was sexist at the time and you need to put the Bible into context. The teachings and the writings were directed to the society and the people at the time of the prophets in the Bible. They were going by strict interpretations of religious laws with societal influences.

When you want truth you can find it. The churches and synagogues were separated men from women. The women were in the back so they could tend young children without disrupting the service. That is also why these scriptures refer to,
In common street talk . Tell your wife to stop calling out to you and asking questions ,tell her to wait till you get home and you can explain it to her without disrupting the service every 5 minutes.
