By not participating in these celebrations and at the same time saying that you are Gods only organisation on earth and that Jehovah only speaks to you.

Your Organisation celebrated Christmas for over 50 years!!!

Your organisation said in the past that " We learned from our mistakes and put them right". The point is, if as you say, indeed as you tell all new recruits, that your organisation alone is both guided and continually in touch with Jehovah and no other organisation is, and that you have always been guided by Jehovah.

Why, for over 50 years did your organisation celebrate Christmas.

For all new young people and raw recruits to this organisation, please think about this question, because there are many more unanswered questions like this.

You are young and beautiful people, please do not let this mind control organisation spoil the rest of your life.

Thank you for your comments. I was glad that you quoted Paul in your answer, as Pauls words are pure gnostic. If you have the time to read about Gnostics please do, and really at the same time read also about paganism of that period, ie They worshipped a godman who died and who came back to life after three days, he was somtimes crucified, he turned water into wine, he was born of a virgin etc, I could go on through the entire story.

Alex,

I know they stopped celebrating Christmas. But as you say." WHEN THEY FOUND OUT, THEY STOPPED", For an organisation that say that they alone are in contact with god. It is a bit pathetic to say the least that it took 50 YEARS to be told this was wrong. so give Jehovah a smack on the wrist for not telling you, and making you look silly.

I think people join cults because they are lonely and cults take advantage of that. They also reel them in by holding interesting events, there was one in my local library recently, they made the event look a bit alternative but didnt display that it was organised by christians and was a means to an end. People just like belonging to something.

And when you were born, you could only eat, sleep and poop. Have you improved?

When Jesus' disciples first heard about Jesus speaking about God's Kingdom, they thought it was to be in Jerusalem right then. Only later did they understand it was more than a world wide government from heaven. According to you that would mean they could not know the truth either.

Paul said it best in 1Corinthians 13:11-13. When he was a baby, he spoke like a baby. When he grew up to manhood, he spoke like a man. Some things he did not understand for a time, some he still did not fully understand as he wrote this letter. His knowledge and understanding did increase as he went along according to God's will. Are you better than Paul?

Which is worse? To learn better and follow expanded understanding or to know better but hold on to obviously false teachings?

When Jehovah's Witnesses understood that Christmas has pagan origins and that celebrating it would be unpleasant in God's eyes they stopped. This is something to be appreciated. Many people who know Christmas' origins still celebrate it.

"Do not be loving either the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; because everything in the world—the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one’s means of life—does not originate with the Father, but originates with the world. Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever." -- 1 John 2:15-17

Being a Jehovah's Witness brings many blessings and satisfactions (clean conscience, moral life, good health, soon eternal life on an earth transformed in paradise etc.).

"Fight the fine fight of the faith, get a firm hold on the everlasting life for which you were called and you offered the fine public declaration in front of many witnesses." -- 1 Timothy 6:12

They stopped celebrating Christmas in the late 20s. Yet, Jesus "came back" in 1918. Why didn't he warn them of this "pagan" practice?

Besides, what Christmas is today isn't the way it was celebrated LONG time ago. What's so pagan about it? Yes, some may abuse the celebration, but people also abuse Easter (the JWs only holiday).

The "good" face of apostate and opposers? lol. Can you tell me when God revealed for a certain thing all the info together? God reveal step-by-step everything, in the proper time. It's different to know the truth and don't follow and different to know the truth and reject it...

Using the organization's past isn't going to convince them to stop following it. Just look at the Catholic church.

JW also predicted the end of the world 3 times, read the Bible what it says about false prophets. Also compare the JW with the actual Bible they have changed key prases. Stay away from false teaching!!!
