I am having surgery to remove my gaulblatter because i have gallstones but i don't know if it is a big enough of a deal that i need to miss any work for it.

you'll need a few days. even though it's now done with laser, there is still going to be a few small holes in your abdomen that will need to heal.

Ask your doctor what he recommends. I had mine out too. They did it laproscopic and I took off one week. I was in my 50's when it was done. I don't know what other medical conditions you might have, or what your age is or whether or not they are doing it by laproscope or if they are cutting you. If you are getting the cut, you will definitely need time off of work and I would suggest at least one week after laproscope. Good luck for a speedy recovery.

Edit: It is better to prepare for some time off and go back to work if you don't need it than the other way around.

I dont know your age. When I had mine taken out I was 55 and I needed 2 weeks off from work to recover.
