i have my ps3 connected to surround sounds with the composite cables. would it sound any different if i got the optical wire? thanks

Composite cables use two connectors for left and right channel. At this stage it's a plain stereo sound, whereas optical uses all powers of your receiver capabilities - it uses separate channels for front left, front right, central, back left, back right and sub - full 5.1 dolby sound. Of course optical is better, than regular stereo.

yes it would the optical cable would give you the same if not better sound quality as an HDMI cable..... so what i recommend you get is component cables with an optical cable... a brand that would give you this package is monster....

unless you have a tv that has an HDMI out... HDMI is really the best for both sound and display....
