The response to the question "Is Mormonism Christian?" depends on the substance of the question and its context. If the inquiry is more theological and religious than theoretical and academic, then the question and answer are normative and depend upon the presuppositions that underlie the query. However, the question can be examined by asking about the significance and implications of labeling and naming in the world of religion. While much modern Latter-day Saint literature has emphasized elements in common between the LDS Church and other Christian denominations, the frequent use of "Mormon" among the early Saints shows that the unique doctrines and beliefs of the Saints—such as the Book of Mormon, the gathering, and the leadership of the prophet—enabled the Saints to withstand the centrifugal pull of Protestant hegemony and establish their own identity. Likewise, the Saints referred to everyone outside of their religion as "Gentile," a practice that continued into this century. Now, with their identity firmly established, the Saints no longer feel constrained to be segregated from other denominations. At the same time, however, new conservative Christians have adopted the label "Christian" to unite themselves and to exclude outsiders or those who may differ in their doctrinal beliefs. The need to show this divergence has grown with the increased prominence of the Church and its members and with the realization that conservative Christians share with the Saints a common social and political agenda.

I often do not believe putting forward the faults of others yet you may desire to take a course in ecu historic previous. comprehend that i don't sense any ill will in direction of contributors of those church homes and have quite some friends in those faiths for which I even have very lots of comprehend. I additionally don't think that the church must be proper, Christ does not have had to go through if the church became proper. The Roman Catholic church had a almost hundred three hundred and sixty 5 days historic previous of very thrilling popes and with the help of thrilling I propose they killed human beings, to grow to be popes, became the Vatican right into a brothel, have been murdered of their beds with the help of their own prostitutes, the place the sons of prostitutes, offered the papacy to the optimal bidder. At one factor a Frenchman in France became made pope and not eager to place as much as a French papacy yet another pope became elected in Rome. the two popes excommunicated the different and all their followers effectively excommunicating all of Christendom and third pope became delivered in to remedy the concern, meaning there have been 3 popes at one time and every physique became excommunicated. Protestant church actually from the be conscious "to protest" broke faraway from the Catholics through undesirable historic previous. The Lutherans broke away through sale of indulgences, actually promoting forgiveness of sins for funds, often in strengthen. yet not all protestants broke off for such stable motives. The Anglican church got here approximately for this reason of Henry VIII and the pope disputing no remember if he can divorce his spouse. the main issue the Catholics had with the protestants is that God could desire to grant adult adult males authority to run his church and in the event that they left the Catholic church (excommunicated themselves or apostatized) the place do they get authority. What follows after the protestant reformation is the 30 years war wherein Catholics and Protestants killed one yet another indiscriminately and the mess did not end till France (a Catholic usa) joined the incorrect group (the protestants). All this and no time to talk the Crusades. recent new child molestation conceal-ups. "no one expects the Spanish inquisition!" So what area of the LDS church historic previous is undesirable, nicely as nicely getting denied their constitutional rights and being pushed from the state i assume that became undesirable.

This will be short and sweet. First of all, to understand about
LDS, purchase the book, on The God makers by Ed Decker.
You will find it very informative. It should give you the most
answers to your questions. Also check the history of when
that organization began. The so called prophet Joseph
Smith and his brother Hiram were instrumental in its teaching
Lots of corruption took place. And it has a lot of history,
documentation to prove of it's falsehood. But yet people are
willing to allow themselves to be deceived, Is it christian? No
it is mormonism. It uses the term Christianity as a cloak.
It's true book that it follows is the book of mormon. You will
have an easier time of converting a muslim to Judaism.
Also you need to understand, where the term, protestant,
evolved from. You be quite amazed. Contact me Acts238.

I was on a mission to the Southern states and I have, I think, an understanding of what it means to be saved in their eyes. Almost all dwell on Paul's declaration "By grace are you saved, and not of works, lest any man should boast" I have yet to hear anyone quote the next line "for ye are created unto good works, that ye should walk in them". The response I hear is that saved people do good works naturally. My answer is "if they don't, what then". I find it very difficult to talk scripture because, being saved, they don't need it. The Idea is to kneel with a pastor and confess Christ and then get a salvation revelation. Until you do that, you are not a Christian. I talked to one member and he told me his fellow member uncle was not Christian because he had not done that. We don't do that because we are told we must endure to the end. so we are called non Christian. You might look at my last post where I asked readers to answer nine questions out of the scriptures with a yes or no concerning belief and "no" was the answer except for one person. The bible has basically become defunct.

There will always be differences between Mormons and the Christian Lite. The Savior settled this long ago. He said that "he who is not against us is on our part." and "if any man give your a cup of water in my name, he shall not lose his reward". Make all the theological arguments you want, I believe Christ.

Mormons, believe: God is a material creature who was
once a man as we are now men. They say men can finally achieve godhood and that there are many gods.
Christians, believe: God is uniquely eternal and all-powerful, the only God - and He is a Spirit [ Psalm 145:13; John 4:24; 1Timothy 1:17 ]
Mormons, believe: They have "new scripture" and the writings of Joseph Smith are divinely inspired revelations -----
God's nineteenth century additions to the Bible.
Christians, believe: The Bible, given by God's Spirit is complete in itself and needs no additions. In fact, additions to the Bible are forebidden [ Deuteronomy 4:2; 12:32;
Proverbs 30:5-6; Galatians 1:8; Hebrews 1:1-2; Revelation 22:18-19 ]
Mormons believe: Man is progressively becoming a god.
Mormons teach teach that Adam's sin in Eden was necessary in order to provide parentage for the spirit children
of God who were ready and waiting for experience of earth life.
Christians believe: Man is not godlike, but sinful and separated from God. Man can only have a relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. Man, apart from Christ, is lost. [ Romans 5:12-19; 6:23; Ephesians 2:1,3; John 1:29;
Galatians 3:13 ]
Mornoms believe: Salvation comes by works and all men will spend eternity on some level of a multistoried heaven.
The level will be determined by the scope of each man's good works.
Christians believe: Salvation is a free gift provided by the
grace [ unmerited love ] of God for all who believe and
accept His plan [ Ephesians 2:8-9; John 12:26; 14:1-3, 6;
1John 3:1-2 ]

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormonism) is a beautiful Christian religion. Because Mormons believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ and consider Him to be the way to salvation, they are clearly a Christian denomination. It is true that they are not an orthodox denomination (they are neither Protestant, Catholic, nor Eastern Orthodox), because they don't accept the post-New Testament creeds, but their Christ-centered theology clearly qualifies them for the Christian label.
Most objective scholars agree that Mormons are Christian. Consider this quote from an academic book entitled “Anthology of World Scriptures” by Robert E. Van Voorst.
“…the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints…see themselves as Christian, and most experts in comparative religions would view this labeling as basically correct. That they…accept the Christian Bible as their first cannon is a good indicator of this. Moreover, “outsiders” to [Christianity], such as Buddhists, would almost certainly recognize them as belonging to the stream of Christian tradition.”
Likewise, a recent poll showed that the majority of Americans believe that Mormons are Christians.
You should be extremely careful when trying to learn about Mormons from others. There are many who hate the Mormons and spread lies, distortions, and conspiracy theories about them. Others think they understand Mormon doctrine because of "what they've heard," but are actually misinformed.
Because Mormons are Christian, we believe in most of the things that Christians believe, including:
1) Christ is divine and salvation comes only through Him.
2) The Bible is the word of God.
3) Men ought to love one another.
Mormons are a unique branch of Christianity, however. We are neither Catholic nor Protestant, so naturally we have some different beliefs. Most of the differences are minor. One significant difference has to do with the authority to act in God's name. Mormons believe that soon after the death of Christ and His apostles, the early Christian Church was greatly influenced by Greek and Roman philosophies and political pressures. Despite the efforts of many good men and women, the true Church of Christ was eventually lost because of these outside pressures and internal, man-made changes. Mormons believe that God reestablished the original Church of Christ in 1820 through a man named Joseph Smith.

Hope this helps! Mormon Christianity has changed my life by helping me better follow Jesus Christ.

If they don't want to believe Mormons are Christians, than they can. They can believe whatever they choose to. But, being Mormon myself, I know VERY well that the LDS ARE Christians. Christ is the very center of the LDS religion. We believe he is the Son of God and the Savior of the world and that he is the way to forgiveness and redemption.
