Each year 13.0 million hectares of forest are lost to deforestation, at the same time some 6.7 million hectares of new forest is planted resulting in an annual net loss of 7.3 million hectares (one hectare is approx 2.5 acres).

Reasons for deforestation vary from country to country - in Africa it's primarily used as fuelwood, in South America it's largely cleared for agricultural purposes, in Europe, North and Central America and Oceania it's primarily for commercial sale, in Asia it's a combination.

I don't have a figure for the amount that is left to rot but approx half of the forest lost is burned - either as fuelwood, slash and burn clearance or through forest fires.

The Global Forest Assessment Report of 2005 took an in depth look at the forests throughout the world, their findings are published a report which is available online from here http://www.fao.org/DOCREP/008/a0400e/a0400e00.htm

lmfao very true...I have asked a question about my car on here. However it was just to get ideas. I would never actually do something to my car from something on here. I would go to the shop or someone who knows what they are doing. Because true most ppl act like they know when really they have no clue or just want points for answering. But that is pretty funny to think about. Good Question.
