High School Grad in 1969. Vietnam 1970-1971. Retired as a senior manager from the Space Program at Kennedy Space Center in 2007. Don't know how to start a career, I don't think so. This came from the structure and education I received from the military. Every one should at least go through boot camp and maybe this country wouldn't be full of idiots like you. You self centered piece of crap. Oh by the way, your classy company is calling you back to the grill in Burger King. I am proud of everyone that is in , has been or going to the armed services. Good luck and God Bless.

You can't be serious with this question... People respect those in the military because they have something that you obviously don't have. They have the desire to give up their life so that you may live.

Also, last time I checked, you have to take a test to get into the military and you have to have a high school ed or GED.

As for starting your character off right.. both my parents graduated college with master's degree or better and then entered the military. In the military my father was taught chemistry and explosives, now he has a medical license, however he chose to be a chemist (which pays more than a doctor) and is now a director for Dow Chemical company. As for my mother, she went into the military to be a MP. Today she is a police officer.

Point being, the military gives you the opportunity to travel the world, see life as it really is, and help you make better choices with your life.

I graduated from a high school which required a demonstrable I.Q of 120 or above and also required you take competitive exams for admission. The source below is a link to the school's web site. I went to work as a laboratory technician with a major firm's research and development labs three days after graduation. And there were four other major firms bidding for my services.
I left that job to enlist in the Navy. Over a 25 year career I moved from an enlisted Hospital Corpsman to retirement as a Lieutenant Commander. All on the strength of my high school diploma. I also learned to form complete sentences with all of the words spelled correctly.
Your knowledge of the military and its members is almost total in its scope of ignorance. So, I would strongly advise against your forming any connection to those military forces because the shock of reality might damage both your heart and what is left of your brain!

Oh, you have no idea! Applicants to the Australian Army who are still in high school are often told to go away until they've got their full secondary education.

Military experience isn't useful for job interviews because you know how to fire a rifle, throw a grenade or drive a tank - it's just a good indication that you're capable of working long hours and handling stress.

Meanwhile, progression in rank will help you get careers in management, while the numerous non-combat jobs in the military provide handy civil accreditation. It's nice going in with a high school education and coming out four years later fully qualified in a trade - Electrician, Plumber, Carpenter, Mechanic, Cook and Parachute Rigger, to name a few.

Excuse me, my husband is a Major in the USAF and he is far from a "high school flunky." In addition to having a BS, he also possesses two Master's degrees. His brother, also in the USAF, has a Master's in Aeronautics. Both had other career options but chose to have military careers.

I have been affiliated with the military for over a decade and there are lots of very smart people who could have done other things with their lives had they chosen to do so. Granted, there are some who could not find other adequate employment for a wide variety of reasons but to classify everone in the military as "high school flunkies" unworthy of respect is insulting.

What a looser. High school flunky my ***!! My husband joined the army because he wanted to serve his country. He graduated w/ a 3.8 gpa. His score so high on his asvab that there isn't a job he couldn't do in the army. He got his bachelor's degree in Business administration while still pulling 10-12hr days minimum. At one point he was also taking several army correspondence course. One of which was binary math(which he scored a 90 on). He has made the commandants list for every army school he has ever attended. While still deployed to Afghanistan he did all of his prep work which included an extremely difficult essay for warrant officer canidate school. He is about to graduate from warrant officer basic course as honor grad. People like you insult those in the military because you don't have the guts to stand up and fight for your country. You couldn't hack it.

I can't believe that you could even think that way. First off most are not there because they are "flunkies". That statement would be like classifying all college students as "consciencious objectors because they went to college to avoid going to war". Many of them join the armed forces because they have strong feelings about the country they live in. Maybe they had other family members before them who fought in a war and they have pride in those family members.
Boot camp prepares you for the worst in your life. I would like to see you and your classier friends sitting in a fox hole being shelled -- bet you stain your knickers brown. What a coward

That is a very cynical way to look at military service. Most people look to the military to give structure and direction in their lives. not everyone in the military is a 'high school flunkie', many are well educated individuals who want to make a difference in the world and and in themselves. If you had family in the military you would understand the intense pride that comes from wearing a uniform.

Because the military is willing to make scarifices that the average person never would. Oh and yeah I joined the Army b/c I quit college b/c I didnt like it. Now I have a very rewarding job that I love. Id rather die fighting for the country than die in a car accident here at home.
