you would have to take genetic factors into account. are your grandparents healthy if they are still alive. if not what did they die from illness or old age? what did the great grandparents die from ?
neither being a smoker or being overweight will increase the quality of life, it's the lesser of 2 evils. this reminds me of the last presidential election..lol

Both are major health risks. It's like asking "Which is worse - being run over by a truck or a train?" Neither is a good option.

Smoking. Excess weight does not pose a risk to others.
Also, smoking damages DNA, unlike excess weight.
Also, smoking sometimes results in fires and burns from people smoking in the forest, falling asleep while smoking, smoking in bed, and people dropping or throwing lit cigarettes from cars, etc.

You can always drop weight but the harm done to your lungs once you've smoked is done. It's irreversible.
