I think many people feel like that after they actually read the entire book and not just cherry pick it for the "good" messages. Also, you often hear people speaking about how God speaks to their hearts but then realize that these people are only hearing their own internal voice and conscience. I'm glad that you have realized that Religion is fiction. You shouldn't despair, but feel privileged that you have figured it out; some people never do. You will also realize that this world holds much more wonder than religion can ever offer. If you think I'm wrong, just take a look at some of the old Apollo Moon mission photographs taken from the moon. The picture I like best shows the earth rising over the moon's horizon. This really speaks to me and says that the fiction of religion can never compete with the jaw dropping wonder of science.

That's me.
The more I learned, the more it sounded off. It got so that I could nor ignore it anymore. I was a very serious teen and at one time determined to be a good Christian. I read, I prayed, I consulted the elders and ministers, but ultimately that passion for learning and seeking is what lead me away from Christianity.
I understand that their refusal to believe me comes from their fear. After all, they've been trained that I am a wicked degenerate and am going to hell. If I "appear" wholesome and happy, then that is simply my evil disguise to lead the righteous into the fiery bowels of hell. They have to believe this is true. They, like me, risk losing family, friends and community if they ask the wrong questions or find the wrong answers. Me being a bible literate, decent human being is threatening to the fundamentalist way of thinking. They are terrified of being like me. So, they disregard what I tell them, put their fingers in their ears and say, "LA LA LA LA".

I did and yes. Or actually, yes it was after I had read the Bible but having read the Bible was not the only factor. There was also the fact that believing what the Bible said was true when it plainly isn't wouldn't wash. And the fact most Christians are hypocrites. And the fact there is no evidence for a God. And...

present day Christianity is somewhat defective. actual christians stroll the stroll. ninety% of all christians that i understand are content fabric on a savior fairly of taking their very own initiative to create heaven on earth. One question i like to pose to christians is this...... if "jesus" had desciples, then he ought to have been a instructor, so the place are HIS instructions. sure, I even have examine the bible, and the recent testomony is as a rule the tale of the existence of jesus (and it somewhat isn't any twist of fate that the memories of the bible are strikingly such as ALL zodiacal astrological mythologies- if one might learn something different than the bible, one might understand this) Do you think of that as quickly as "christ" grew to become into alive, that he went around preaching that at some point he might die and all of us may be stored? no longer likely. If he did stay as a real flesh and blood guy, his instructions have been possibly functional suggestion on a thank you to commune with the divine without the choose of a bogus center guy, AKA - the church and priest type. inspite of each and every thing, he got here to "carry a sword" maximum appropriate? it somewhat is the massive lesson that has been derailed. His teachings have been whitewashed into legends approximately his existence fairly of functional methods of "at-one-ment" - no longer lots by using fact of an all eating "evil" rigidity, yet by using fact of human conceitedness and lack of expertise - which in case you question me, IS an "evil" rigidity. maximum of christianity isn't the instructions of the guy they call "jesus" - the recent testomony is usually a narrative of christ's existence (and astrological hybrid based on the interior spark interior of each and every existence style) some determination quotes from the guy located in a narrative approximately his existence and adventures are no longer his lesson plan and not what he grew to become into coaching. 12 disciples - each and every made to exemplify the legends of the zodiacal residences. And the "Christ" is the concepts of infinity experiencing all the residences. My 2 cents.......

Heck, I went to a Catholic school until 5th grade. After that I went to a public school and learned about Science. They didn't teach me Science at St. Casmirs. I lost 5 years of science. I haven't been in a church since I was 18.

Amazing how someone can read and understand the Bible then leave Christianity . I suppose that is how the different cults break away to form their own understanding of what the Living Word of God has instructed, and thus formed the different religions. amazing.

Reading it closely was the final deciding factor. Too much hate, violence, incest, pettiness and contradictions. I STILL haven't gotten a lot of my questions answered about the bible.
Why didn't God punish Abram for pimping out his wife? Instead he helped Abram profit from it. Why did God condone slavery? Why did Jesus have doubts in the Garden if he was God?
etc etc etc
