I'm looking to volunteer at a childrens hospital in atlanta over the holidays. In the hospitals that I've spoken, I have to go through a program going past the holidays but I can't. Any suggestions?

I tried to volunteer at a vhildren's hospital once and it very tough as the kids need everything to be sterile around them. The staff is wary of letting outsuders in because of the high risk of infection. (at least that's what I was told)

However, there ARE still ways to help these children. You and some friends could make some pretty "Get Well" cards to cheer them up/encourage them.

Collect books, videos, etc. A good website for inspiration is

I don't have any experience volunteering in Atlanta area Children's hospitals, but I can definitely recommend a place where help is equally appreciated, especially around this time of the year, The Atlanta Children's Shelter. It is a great organization that provides day care for homeless children and job resources for the parents. The children love spending time with the volunteers, and it is so appreciated by everyone there.

Many organizations, including hospitals, reserve volunteering opportunities to people willing to make a long-term commitment, because of the resources needed to train and supervise new volunteers. Also, most organizations are overwhelmed with requests to volunteer at the holidays, and don't have enough opportunities to go around.

VolunteerMatch (http://www.volunteermatch.org), Idealist (http://www.idealist.org) and CraigsList (http://www.craigslist.com) all list volunteering opportunities with thousands of organizations, including organizations focused on children. Also, contact your local volunteer center; you can find this via the Points of Light Foundation web site (http://www.pointsoflight.org/centers/).

i understand our community mall has human beings wrap provides and the money is going to community charities. What would desire to be effective is that in case you volunteer collectively inclusive of your babies, then you definately would desire to do something quite plenty. attempt a nutrition economic enterprise or soup kitchen. they often have extra artwork to do around the vacations.
