Your first answerer was right. God getting into it was a big help.
1) God did just what Jesus said He would be sending the Holy Spirit as He said in John 15 and 16.
2) They had division with James and Paul, James preaching Moses and Paul preaching Jesus Christ ( Acts 15 and 21 ). James didn't have a problem until later with the Jews who were not believing in Jesus Christ, while when Paul showed up, they had a definite problem.
3) Since Jesus fulfilled the Law of Moses, there wasn't any longer a need to follow the Law of Moses, which was put there in the first place to show that man ought to be dependent upon God for righteousness. In fact, Jesus said that there wasn't anyone righteous apart from God. The Book of Romans, especially chapter 3.
4) Paul and Jesus preached to individuals, that is; their personal ideals were made free in Christ. Please see Colossians 2, and Luke 13. Also Romans 14.

Christianity was a subsect of Judaism in its origins. It was Paul that took it to the gentiles, that's why a lot of Jewish practices were dropped, the gentiles saw the Jews as outlandish in their ways.
Paul was brought back to Jerusalem to answer for his breaking of Jewish customs to James, brother of Jesus and head of the Christian sect.

Jesus Christ born of a virgin, came and fulfilled all the prophecies of the Torah or our Old Testament . God confirmed from Heaven that He was His Son. The Jews refused to believe Him and accept Him,they crucified him .When He arose from the dead and showed the world He was the son of God. Those who believed continued telling the world of Him , and following Him the Christ ( the savior of man) that is where the name evolved Christ-ian. He is the open door to God , because God cannot look upon sin, Jesus became a intercessor to God for man to establish a new relationship between God and Man.
