I saw this gun and was thinking of purchasing it. I want to make a good offer, but I can't seem to match the s/n to any of the models. The s/n starts wit a 68V (then just under that is a 5 digit #). I did not want to list the # for obvious reasons. It was made in Belgium and is in mint condition. It has magnum engraved on the outside of the chamber and I believe the barrell to be about 28 inches. It also has beautiful engraved patterns in the steel. It will fire 3" shells. Can anyone shed some light on this gun for me?

I believe you are talkin about a browning A-5.I have 6,2 in 12ga. 2 in 20ga. 2 in 16ga.they are very reliable and in 12 ga. you can hunt anything from deer to doves. The only downside is that you must switch out the rings on the magazine tube to switch between 2-3/4" to 3" shells.I would definately buy it if it is in mint condition. it could be worth anywhere between $300 and $1000

I suspect it is a Browning A-5 shotgun. I don't much care for semi-automatic shotguns, I very much prefer sxs doubles and pumps. But if I were going to purchase a semi-automatic shotgun, there are only two models I'd consider, the Browning A-5 and the Benelli BlackEagle.

The Belgian made A-5 Brownings are considered to be among the best semi-auto shotguns ever made. You won't make a mistake if you buy it.

its a good gun... i wish i had the oppurtuntity to buy it... pricewise.. i wouldnt go over 700 for any gun.. but thats just me... if its mint and has engravings, a mag, I would deff try and guy it.... it would be a good turkey, squirrel (just use a regular 2 and 3/4 inch shell and target load and 12 guages are perfect squirrel guns... its what i use) and its also good for duck hunting... but check to see if you can use steel shot before going duck hunting... cuz its illegal to duck hunt with lead shot for obvious reasons... (you will pollute the water)... but yea deff. try to get this gun... good luck
