I know I've tripped & fallen, rushing to the bus. 1 time I saw a lady who ran for the bus & fell so hard she knocked a few teeth out, bussed her lip, & was crying, & she had to go to the ER. But then if you're late to school/work, you're in trouble. Even 5 min. late-trouble. Only if you would've walked out the door a few minutes earlier.

Depends, how far away from the bus are you? If you can see it coming, and you're a block away from the stop, run toward the stop, but be sure to look over your shoulder and try to make eye contact with the driver so they know you want the bus, also, wave your arms.

If you have no idea if the bus has come or gone, then it doesn't make any sense to run to the stop. If you're late, you'll have already missed the bus, unless it's habitually late, too.

You will be on time for the next, bus, however.

Also, if the bus is already at the stop and you are heading toward it, signaling the driver, I suggest you hustle as quickly as possible toward the bus. If you dawdle along and don't put some hustle in your bustle, most likely the bus won't wait for you. All buses are on a schedule, and if it's already at the stop, it has picked up those that were there on time and is providing an additional nice service to wait for you, who were late.

You know Queen, several months ago, I tried rushing down the deck stairs to stop my roommate's dog from jumping the fence. I got my foot caught and had to jump the last 4 steps to keep from falling on my face. I landed so hard on one leg that the pain was tremendous. I really messed up my back and am in constant pain now. I know it will get better but if I could only take back that decision to run down steep, outside steps. Don't run for the bus unless you are sure you can safely do it.

As far as the person who said he / she had been in business for 28 years and that employees needed to be on time - well he / she is correct up to a certain point. Personally I would rather have safe, healthy employees and put up with them being a few minutes late on occasion.

Learn to fall. It's a martial arts 101 sort of thing.

A lot of people tense up, freeze, or try to use muscle power, fighting every inch of the way (and often getting hurt). No, no! The ground is your friend and #1 supporter :) You might as well go with the fall and choose that moment to put yourself on the ground. Ask your martial arts instructor... or your cat.

Then thank the ground, get up and catch the bus :)

If you are running late, you need to do anything and everything possible to get to where need to be on time! This would include running to catch the bus, or walking / running to another bus stop to catch another bus!

You need to be careful, but your primary responsibility is to get to work or school on time! As an employer, I do not want to hear reasons that you are late, I count on you to be there at a certain time! If you can not get there when you are supposed to, I do not see a need to have you as my employee!
