Yes, the artificial sweeteners are not good for you and cause a host of ills from memory loss to MS like symptoms. We love you, please don't do that to yourself! Plain old sugar is much better. Unfortunately, most non-diet sodas are now using the evil high fructose corn syrup, which isn't much better. Soda just isn't a good drink in general. The carbonation also robs your body of calcium.

To find a lot of good links and discussion try http://www.mercola.com and search the site for artificial sweeteners, nutrasweet, aspartame, slenda, sucralose, sodas (individually) you will get a lot of different articles to peruse. You won't have time for YA! the rest of the night.

Diet sodas, actually diet anything, is bad for you because of the artificial sweeteners used - you are better off drinking regular soda and just not drinking a lot of it. Water and juice are still the best choices though.

Yes, it doesn't have calories or fat or anything and technically it's considered "healthy" in comparison to most drink choices out there. But recent studies have shown that drinking diet soda regularly (like more than one a day) increases your cravings for sugars and may have long-term health effects. Studies have shown that people who drink diet sodas generally gain more weight than people who regularly drink water. So it's not "healthy" but if you're thirsty, it's better to get some kind of fluid in your system than to not drink anything. Water is always the better option.

Same here.
I used to drink regular soda and started drinking more diet cuz it has less calories and sugar. (regular kinds are mainly just a glass of pure sugar). and then i read on the yahoo news that diet coke might actually be unhealthy for oyu.
