From my observation, there are about 2% really intelligent atheists in Y!A. The rest needs to do some reading.

or, to phrase it another way -
"Are SOME religious people so insecure that they are attacking others belief system.?
If you are secure in YOUR belief you don't have to defend it. be mature with your choice but leave others alone.
Do not offend people with another opinion,.
We live in a free land."
works both ways when you read lots of other questions :)
and no, i am neither atheist or religious :)
blessed be

Ok, seriously, can you generalize - is it fair? Athiest or not Athiest.....human nature will always be diverse. Some will be wise, some not-so, some will be restrained, some expressive, some would like to justify, some wouldn't bother, some would attack, others wouldn't. Some would live n let live, others would fight n intervene.
So how can u generalize Athiests? I think there are all kinds of people out there who respond differently. It helps to have an open mind in this and not categorize people.

Don't you realize how ironic your title is? atheists attack others because they are insecure, yet right there you are attacking atheists. You could have directed this question at everyone, yet you pointed to atheists in particular.
Then you also add irony by telling people "Don't state your opinion! We live in a free land!" We live in a free land, which means that atheists can feel free to attack whomever they want (verbally, of course.)

Because we're attacking other beliefs... We're defending our own?
Okay, let's go along with that twisted idea. You state that we live in a free country and that we should not offend or attack people with another opinion.
I have the freedom to say whatever I want as long as it is not completely false hate speech. Opinions on religion usually cannot be proven true or false.
You lose.

Yes, we do live in a free country and that's exactly why we atheists have the right to disagree with majority opinion in this public access forum. If you can't stomach allowing each person to express their own opinion, I suggest you go to any of hundreds of "Christians Only" websites that litter the Internet.
I have endured unwelcome proselytizing from Christians thousands of times during my life and have always grudgingly tolerated each Christian's right to express himself. True, I disagreed -- but I always let them speak their piece. Now our positions are reversed, and Christians are forced to tolerate unwelcome proselytizing from atheists. Frankly, I'm really enjoying my chance to pay-back Christians for all the unwelcome religious opinions I've been forced to listen to for over fifty years. Can you understand that I absolutely do not care what you superstitious folks think of me? I've endured your crap my entire life and now it's your turn to listen to me -- like it or not.
I suggest you either learn to appreciate that everybody has a right to express their own opinion, or go find someplace else more to your liking. We practice Freedom of Speech here.

Yes Besides atheist is just a term used by people who dont want to be good christians. If there christians they have to have good conduct and not to sin, they don't want to do that. (P.S: if there in a plane and their is turbulence, there gonna start praying to the Lord) Lord, Mother of God st. Clare save me. What better proof than that

As you pointed out, we live in a free land, so why are you upset when atheists voice their opinion? Oh that's right, everyone's entitled to their opinion, as long as it agrees with yours.

Yup, we live in a free land. So we can offend whoever we want. And so can you. Christians and atheists alike do this.

Really we are insecure, have you not seen the roaring debate about the Golden Compass, let me ask you who is really insecure, the ones who hide behind facts or the ones who hide behind what they think are facts

This can easily be said about any religion, belief system, political position, etc.
Attacking other's beliefs / positions is done more out of the human emotion of fear than out of any particular belief system.
