I am 19 years old and go to college, but I live at home because my parents are overprotective
Tonight was my 22 year old boyfriend's office xmas party, which my parents knew about for weeks.
My bf and I have been dating 3 years and I have known him for 10 yrs prior to that.
He is always good to them, has even done their food shopping using his own $
I go to school and work part time, and I clean up the house everyday while everyone is out.
Today I got lazy after a long night of work (I work at toys r us) and decided for ONE day not to clean up the dirty house
They told me I could not go to the party as punishment!!
I told them I am going no matter what, and my dad has threatned to either physically restrain me or follow me to the party in his car so that he can humiliate me later
I don't know what to do, my mom is out at her xmas party, I told my bf I would meet him at the end of the driveway
Advice?

It's time to move out. That's wayy too extreme for them to be doing that to you, and quite unfair. Your parents should treat you as an adult not a slave. I can agree that yes it's their house and you have to abide by their rules BUT they have to be reasonable as well. Just go and have fun.

Well technically you don't have to live with your parents since you are nineteen. Maybe you should try to move into a cheap apartment with a roommate if you can afford it. Otherwise I believe that if you live under you parent's roof you have to abide by their rules. Yes it does seem a VERY extreme but I probably wouldn't go to the party just to avoid having a blow up with your Dad. I defenitely think you need to consider moving out if you are miserable...could you move into a dorm on campus at your college? Most student loans cover the cost of room and board. How does your BF feel about the situation?

Dear Marm,
It is time too start Looking for a place too Live.
You are under your parents house and they can Kick you out if they want. You are 19 yrs old,you are an adult, and there is no reason why you are living with your parents in the first place.
Work, save money and plan too move out on your own.
What ever you do,don't disrespect your parents,as in the bible we are too honor our parents. But since you are an adult, you have too make the right Choices.
And if they do any thing too you or any harm you can call the police and have him arrested.
Sincerely,
Kenny

i suggest you decide where you want to live ---- as a parent i think they are going overboard (we went through the teenage years) --- let them know that you are old enough to make your own decisions and if they choose to be stubborn about it seriously consider moving out --- even moving in with your boyfriend --- we were married within 12 months of our first date --- and our first child was 4 years later lol --- while i do not usually condone going against parents wishes in this case you are old enough so go --- best wishes and have fun

Sounds like it's time for baby bird to leave the coop! Mom and Dad, especially Dad doesn't sound ready to cut the apron strings. However when you're living under someone else's roof, they make the rules.
