People feel sorry for anything.
Quite a few people feel sorry for me when I say I study classical voice and Swedish ... apparently, it's something to be sorry about.

I would say that they feel sorry because they miss your fellowship at church and its activities. Also they may think that in refusing to go to church you are turning away from God and want in some way to help you. As a Christian, who goes to church and actually enjoys it, I would ask you why or what has turned you so that you are missing out on time to fellowship with God, in His House, and with His family? I would suggest that you find a church that you feel at home in, where you can see and feel the presence of God and the people walk and talk their faith.

Sometimes when people feel they have the right answers to something, like going to church and it makes them feel good, they want to share it with others. Once someone doesn't feel the same, they kind of get this feeling of I know better and I feel sorry that person isn't as happy as me because I go to church. If you ask me they should leave you alone and if it bothers them that much they should pray for you.

You don't have to attend church to be a Christan, however there are those who feel they need the up lifting of others.John 3;16 is all you need to become a Christan it is good to study and important that we grow in Christ., but it doesn't have to be in a building, you can do it at home or where any two are gathered in my name let it be a worship service,is what Christ told us, God Bless you.

I don't go to church either and I'm not sorry about it. I don't need to go to some building to hear the Word of God. I can study it on my own.

Perhaps you merely perceive that they feel sorry for you. It should not be of concern to anyone but yourself whether you attend church.

I never refuse to go to church. But I'd rather not. If someone invited me to go with them, just so we could be together, not so they could bombard me with hellfire and damnation, I'd probably go, especially if it lead to lunch afterwards. I'm secure in my lack of belief. I know I won't be harmed.

If they are feeling sorry, it is probably because they have experienced a close companionship and peace in church and wish to share that with you.

I am sorry for you too ! Think of all the hatred and prejudice you are not learning as well as the intolerance for the beliefs of others !

Be glad that these people seem to care about your soul. But ultimately, it's your choice. Only God can change your heart.
