I boil 2 cups of water, 1/2 a cup of milk, 1 cup of white rice and some salt for about 5 minutes or so then I turn down the heat, cover the pot and let it cook another 10 minutes or until the rice is tender. The milk makes fluffier rice and it helps it to stick better so if your ever making rice balls I would suggest adding some milk to the mix.

Rinse rice with water till clean. Put into a stainless steel pan and add water till 1 inch above rice surface. Bring to a boil, uncovered, till ¨dimples¨ appear on the surface, cover and simmer for 20 minutes on the lowest setting.
Fluff with a fork and leave uncovered for 15 minutes.

Ratio is 2 parts liquid to 1 part rice. Bring liquid, seasoned with salt, pepper and butter if you want to a boil. Stir in rice, cover, reduce heat to a simmer and let simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid. Remove from heat. Let stand for 5 minutes. Fluff with fork.
