By growing up. This happens to almost all of us at some point or another. With time you will learn to respect alcohol and moderate you intake. For some this comes easily. For others it takes lots of mistakes. In years past beer was like potato chips for me... I couldn't drink just one. Now i have a beer or two while watching TV at night and I am fine... I still go out and get drunk every so often, but it is by choice now.

If you sit down and say "OK, I am going to go to this party, have a drink, and that's it" and then you find that you can not control yourself from having more than that, it may be beyod your control. There is something causing you to NOT listen to what you are telling yourself ahead of time. You need to decide BEFORE the party how much you are going to drink. Maybe try going and saying "I am not going to have any drinks, just enjoy the company of my friends". If you find that you literally can't control yourself, it may be helpful to talk to someone who can help.
A few drinks here and there is not a problem, but if you literally can not stop (drinking everything you can get your hands on), that is not healthy. I know it's a scary thought to think that you aren't in control. It like any other addiction (if that what, in fact you have). I would suggest talking to someone who can helpy uo determine exactly what is causing you to feel like this.

Don't go to parties, but you can still drink with friends if you only have a few. Just avoid places where you'll want to get completely trashed... You're not an alcoholic like everyone here thinks. You just abuse it every now and then like me. And it's a good idea to stop doing that because you may end up being an alky eventually

F*$# alcohol. This is why prohobition happened lol. And i wonder why they dont call this and tobacco a drug..Well anyways, there is no real reason to resolve this without u wanting to do so. If u dont want to, no one can make you. Of course ppl can say words of encouragment but that encouragment has to start with you first hand cause its not just gonna dawn on you.

This is my problem too once I start I cant stop. what I suggest is before the party (when your sober) tell a reliable friend to cut you off when you've had a certain amount of drinks/shots (decide this number then tell them when sober)

Sounds like you might have a drinking problem. You don't have to be in your 30's or 40's+ to have one. Talk to a counselor or a doctor.

Drink, but do it slower. I tend to drink fast and too much, but if you want to drink, try taking a longer time finishing it. Or what I do is order something real strong, so I don't drink it fast. It I ordered something good tasting, I will chug it down.
Good luck, and have one for me!

Every other drink should be water. That slows your pace and you will feel much better in the morning.
