Jehovah's Witnesses get out of this world's mentality by working to imitate Christ.
Php 2:5-8 Keep this mental attitude in you that was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although he was existing in God’s form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God. 7 No, but he emptied himself and took a slave’s form and came to be in the likeness of men. 8 More than that, when he found himself in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient as far as death, yes, death on a torture stake.
Eph 4:23-24 You should be made new in the force actuating your mind, and should put on the new personality which was created according to God’s will in true righteousness and loyalty.
Ro 12:2 And quit being fashioned after this system of things, but be transformed by making your mind over, that you may prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I got out of the JW religion by getting disfellowshipped twice.
I got into the true light by getting reinstated into the JW religion twice.
Hopefully, there won't be a third time.
By the way, I don't believe everything the Watchtower Society has ever printed but I do believe the vast majority of current JW beliefs. The Governing Body has never claimed to be infallible and in one Watchtower study article they even admitted they had made mistakes in the past. That apology was good enough for me.

I never got into the anti-mormon websites, there was even the "Godmakers" comign thru Oaklahoma when I was in the biblebelt, but I think getting into the Army and my bizzare patriarticle blessing did it for me, and my dydfunctional ward and family and unexplained things going on in my childhood that led me away from this so-called restored truth. I was always depressed to, and wanted to die, and I could not see how a church that promiced Goddesshood, sould make me so suicidal, so I left.

I notice that you did not include the name of the religion that you follow in your question.
If you are going to denigrate and insult another belief, you should at least have the courage to list your church's name as such a shining standard of behavior.
Be a member, of this church, and become a bigot. Is that YOUR church's motto?.
Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you? Right!!!
Judge not, lest, ye be judged? Bingo!
Worry about your own salvation, and leave US to think about OURS!
And BY the way? We are quite happy as we are.

I was never in a group that didn't have the true light. But most converts that I know met with the missionaries and were led to them by friends or family. ;)

I stayed Mormon because I didn't want to give up the true light. To each his own, I suppose.

I was a JW for 43 years. I just walked away. It is most difficult mentally, but over time it does get easier. I have been away for 3 years now, and I still have guilty thoughts on doing some things that the JW's say is wrong. The elders used to come to my house for a few months, but they have stopped also. I guess time will heal. Your welcome to contact me. I can give you more specifics if you wish.
