she's had a few b-friends in the past and right now is dating a guy who is the biggest jerk ive ever met! she did tell me im kinda cute though.

It sounds like she likes you already! If you talk on IM and on the phone thats a big deal for someone her age!! Congrats on getting this far! :-) If you want to become more known around school try to join some clubs, volunteer to help out for school functions, try sports or drama! Get involved in school and people will get to know you better! Bonus for you if you can try to get involved in things this girl likes so you can see eachother more! Have fun! Keep talking to her! It sounds like you are halfway there! Honestly though it doesnt matter how popular you are to the right girl, she will just like you for you which it sounds like she does! Good luck!
