Asalam Alaikum
Islam saved my life. I was heading down a very bad path in my life. Then I found Islam and I turned myself around alhumdillah. I don't even want to think were I would be now if I had not found Islam subhanAllah. I pray more people find this joyous path.

I think, just like any other religions, the core of Islam is providing peace to its followers but then manipulations by its authorities yielded doctrines that contain intolerance that leads to extreme traditions, hatred, violence, martyrdom, and wars. Almost all organized religions suffer from manipulations for power and politics during some time periods. Christianity has its historical violence with the Crusades, the Inquisition, etc. Islam is no different. Al-Ghazali and the Asharites closed the gates of Ijtihad in 12th century, which led to totalitarian legal interpretations of Quran and Sunnah; thus the political manipulations of Islamic beliefs started and continue until now. Iran's Ayatollah Ali Khamenei blesses the recruitment of youth suicide bombers in lieu to Gaza conflict, for example. That is manipulation at its best. It is not the fault of Islam that it has such a bad reputation. It is the fault its manipulative leaders from 12th century to present day. I think the world's Islamic community should do something about it.

Islam is the greatest gift Allah SWT has blessed us with SUBHANALLAH!
We should appreciate this gift and make the most of it, follow the Quran and Hadith and the 5 pillars. I don't understand how some Muslims don't bother praying Salaat, I mean, it is a great way of becoming closer to the Lord and thanking him for all that we have been blessed with.
