To be up-right means to be truthful. Truthfulness is the greatest spiritual requirement that leads you in the path of perfection which is said in all religions of the world.

No. Being up-tight is not a good religious, or spiritual quality.Once you are up-tight, you are no longer you. You are a person "controlled" by a "religion". As a matter of fact, no one knows if there is a perfect religion. I believe the "In God we trust", but can God resolves everything?! All you have to do is to be "yourself". If you are so up-tight, all the people around you will feel uncomfortable. The environment will be tense, any harmony will disappears from the door. Did you see a movie called "Sound Of Music" - The natural truth is the most beautiful thing in life.

Being "up tight" is a personality issue, not religious or spiritual at all - usually a mixture of repression and control issues.
Being up tight in R&S does make you a target for the thumb-down - sure it does. We all like a little lightness and humor now and then...a little sunshine between the rounds of philosophical bludgeoning we call R&S ;).

It seems to be common trait among those who think they are smarter than anyone else Christians and Atheist included.

So to answer the question directly, It is a religion thing to be uptight because to tell the honest truth Atheism is as much a religion based on Faith as Christianity, Islam , Judaism or any other faith is. Just by your question your showing how uptight you are by trying to make a group of people you don't agree with seem "uptight" and "unreasonable"

You have no proof of the big bang or any of your other theories as to origins of life and the universe and are using only a hypothesis as the foundation of your faith in the non-existence of God.

Neither. It is not a quality but an emotion of the flesh. It comes from worrying and not having peace in the situation you are in. And peace is a religious and spiritual quality that comes from walking with Christ and then your worries will be canceled out by having faith.

Thank God I'm not "Religious"- I'm totally against Religion and those who are "religious" can tend to be up tight. It's unfortunate. Fortunately, being a Christ-Follower and NOT RELIGIOUS makes me open and kind- because that is the way I want to be and the way Jesus wants me to be.
