I'm excited about Christ and my salvation, I don't know what constitutes a fanatic. I beleive you may be referring to someone who has pronounced him/herself perfect and pass judgement on others. I beleive in being focused and surround my self with Godly things. I'm new in this walk and I feel covered and protected against the world when I'm not in the world. I would hope that all Christian are excited about Christ and his gift of salvation.

What makes you a fanatic is when you go over the line of common sense. When you lose all sense of the others persons opinion. You may disagree, but you need to respect the other persons opinion. When you lose that ability you become a fanatic. When you think that you are right and anyone that disagrees must go.
I am not sure what you meant by a Christian. Someone that believes in Jesus Christ or someone that belongs to a cult?

Did you see Stephen King's "The Mist"? The lady on there was a fanatic. She was like one of the Bible thumping, fire and brimstone preaching individuals who think singing is sinful as is just about anything. One lady in the movie tried to be nice to her and she called her a whore and actually said "if I wanted a friend like you I'd s h i t one out". How holy is that I ask? She blamed some of the people there for causing the problem and actually killed one man. How holy is that? Those type of people are fanatics as are those that fly planes into buildings.

Pretty controversial question, and probably subject to a huge degree of interpretation. Usually someone who is "fanatical" about anything is seen by a "reasonable person" as taking things too far, as in they're acting outside of what most people would consider reasonable behavior. One of the core principles of Christianity is spreading it to others; so I guess what makes a Christian a fanatic would be devoting yourself to hassling and disturbing other people to impose your beliefs on them, rather than going about it in a conventional, welcoming way. That's my take, anyway.

Being enthusuastic or impassioned or even witnessing spontaneously to others is not abnormal in those who believe. But if they were out on the streets with the "Repent Now" sign or grabbing passers-by to try and desperately tell them the Good News - that is where devotion begins to run into mental illness. In between lies the fanatic! You can be deeply religious and let it influence everything you do and say and still just be a great fan of your religion. Dressing as Jesus and standing on the street at odd times of year with a full-sized cross on your shoulders - again, a little over the edge.
Come on - you see sports fans jumping up and down in the middle of the street with a foam finger on, so they push the limits as well - OK, usually with the aid of alcohol.

Any kind of a fanatic goes overboard on their views or opinions. When they tell you,in no uncertain terms, that they are right and pretty much everyone else is wrong. You could apply this to Christians-atheists-Republicans-Democrats-etc.
The word fan came from fanatic after all.

nothing was fanatic about Jesus Christ......
the word Christian is being used a lot today by the people of the world, that has no ideal what it means to be a Christian.........they're called wolves, dressed in sheep clothing........better word, false prophets, people that tell a person what they are, but have no words to back it up. they also, in men own wisdom, led them to self destruction from their wickedness...........
when anyone goes around and cast judgment on others, and think they're better, then these kind of people is called idolaters. [self worshipers]...
the people that use their hate to hurts others, this is the act of a cult,[satain's brainwashed servents] that have their hearts so harden by hate and lies, that they have little hope to recover or fine happeness....
the wages for doing wrong [sin], is death, [spiritual death], but the gift of God is eternal life [everlasting with the King of Kings in Heaven] through Jesus Christ, not of works that any should boost...
when it comes to believing upon the Cross and Jesus Christ, doing that which is good for humanity, there is nothing fanatic about it.....it's just the Jesus way of loving each other as He love us............
it is better to suffer, if we have to suffer, for doing whats right, then for doing wrong, it's like telling the truth, goes a lot easier no matter what it is. always worse on ones that lie, and the shame and suffering is greater

The Bible says to love the Lord your God with all your heart, ideas and soul. If it is what you mean with the help of fanatical, then i'm fanatical, and that i'm no longer likely to apologise for it. i will stay fanatical for Jesus Christ, inspite of each thing He died and took the punishment which I deserved, and which you deserved too! you may no longer blame me for being fanatical - no extra advantageous, unconditional love than this!

* People who have breakdowns tend to go towards being a fanatic.
* They do a whole personality change, say things they never really said before + talk like that alot, almost all the time.
* as they get worse, thats all they talk about. Their whole world is involved in what they think God is telling them to do, no matter how ridiculous it may sound.
* Some don't go to work or do other activities anymore.
* Food, shelter, making a living to support yourself or your family isn't important anymore, its God's word that has priority with them.
* extremely guilty feeling, blame themselves for failures in their lives
* cry + seem very depressed
* may think they have a mission to do for God.
* wander off possibly walking + sometimes preach to total strangers
* causes family lots of stress not knowing if he will be home when you get off work.
If you are struggling with this in your family, the best bet is to take this person to the hospital asap.
