You may or may not be medicated with anti anxiety meds before the procedure depending preference of the doctor.
Your eyes will be numbed with a drop ( not an injection) it will only take seconds to numb The first step in LASIK is creating the corneal flap, your eye will be held open with a device. (speculum) Using either a microkeratome (uses a small blade) or the intralase laser ( all laser no blade used. and usually more expensive) a flap will be created, your eye will look as if you have a contact on the eye with a hinge left at the top of the contact attached to the eye. The dr. will lift that up and treat with the laser to reshape the cornea according to what your prescritption is. After the treatment the cornea will be irrigated and the flap layed back down and placed back exactly where it came from. Medicated drops will be placed in the eye such as a antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and maybe an aspirin for the eye and maybe a artificial tear. You may be sent home with sheilds on your eyes or at least sunglasses. You will need to go home and sleep or at least have your eyes closed for most of the day. You will be using a few different drops in your eyes for about 5 days and after that you will continue to use artificial tears to keep the eyes moist since that is the biggest side effect of the procedure. This is the procedure for just LASIK, if you needed to have epi-lasik or PRK then the creation of the flap is different and healing time is longer and more difficult in most cases ( depending on the surgeons technique.
I don't know of a picture you can see, many lasik centers allow you to watch other patients surgery's from start to finish, so you may look into that. The centers I have worked at in the past and currently offer that anyway.

Although I don't have a picture I myself was considering the Lasik eye surgery at one time. It's completely fast and pain free. They lay you back in a chair similar to the dentist office in a dark room. They'll numb your eye with an ointment and once it's numb they'll inject anesthetic into it. Once that takes effect they have a specialized machine that comes down onto the conjunctiva (the membrane around your entire eye) and cuts a perfect circle around your iris (the colored part). They'll lay that back and then use a laser to clean out whatever is behind it to give you close to perfect, if not perfect, vision. They'll lay the conjunctiva back over top your iris after putting in special antibiotic drops to keep them from getting infected. Within seconds the conjunctiva "fuses" back together where it was cut. You'll have to wear dark glasses for a few days and use eye drops but the procedure takes less than 10 mins per eye. Good Luck!

All I know is that I personally am a poor candidate for it due to being older and having dry eyes.
