That is usually the reason christian preachers give, but the reasons given in Ezekiel 16 sounds a lot like the U.S.A.

princecurtis: I agree with you in many ways. It amazes me that after 9-11 the people "sorta" turned to religion, but the overwhelming response was PRIDE. Even bumper-stickers declaring the "Power of Pride" were seen everywhere. We are in for BIG trouble and that's for sure.

edit: the really interesting thing was the answers I received.
edit2: I guess I'm going to have to cut and paste it for those who refuse to open the bible for themselves and would rather simply listen to what preachers have to say...
Ezekiel 16: 48-50 (CEV)
As surely as I am the living LORD God, the people of Sodom and its nearby villages were never as sinful as you. They were arrogant and spoiled; they had everything they needed and still refused to help the poor and needy. They thought they were better than everyone else, and they did things I hate. And so I destroyed them.
Sounds like there was a whole lot of things other than homosexuality going on that caused God to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah and it sounds a lot like America today.

Looking at this view from the two scriptures in( Ezk.16:48 - 49 & Gen.18;chp.19;chp. & 2 peter 2:6-7)and a few more texts. It seems to me that it was not the only reason why God destroyed them. All these scriptures tells us that they were a wicked people full of pride. I think what got God's attention was the prayers of Lot concerning them because he was vexed by their lifestyle. Yes, I have to agree it sounds like America and I also belive America is the two horned beast of Rev.13;. I guess we got it coming here to when the judgments of God's wrath comes to our land of the free and home of the brave. I got more reasons to pray for this God blessed country, where in TROUBLE ! Right after we get hit hard by afflictions watch how many people turn to their religions just like 911, yes us christians too.

Of direction that wasn't the point. In all the verses that particularly say why Sodom and Gomorrah have been destroyed, homosexuality is maximum possibly now no longer introduced up. human beings will develop the the place the adult males favored to rape the customer which grew to become into as quickly as as quickly as an angel, in spite of the undeniable fact that it maximum possibly now no longer says that Sodom and Gomorrah grew to become into as quickly as as quickly as destroyed subsequently, and it somewhat is telling that females and adult males see this as a gay ingredient fairly of a rape ingredient. As for "spectacular flesh" that grew to become into as quickly as as quickly as interior the NT, a methods removed from OT activities, and the appropriate way wisely does this advise homosexuality as quickly as greater?

What a shame that people are sooo clueless about God's Word ( other than a select few on here ). No wonder our world has gone to hell in a handbasket because people don't know how to interpret Scripture, yet are so quick to throw out their untruths. Thank you, HeVn Bd. I agree with you. Yes, Sodom was destroyed...no, it was completely decimated, because of the perversions of homosexuality gone rampant in that city. God thinks no sweeter of this sin today, so judgement is inevitable. But this is not a fearful thing to those of us who belong to the Lord.

Notice what happened when the 2 angels came to visit Lot as men. (Genesis 19:4,5)
"...the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, from boy to old man, all the people in one mob. And they kept calling out to Lot and saying to him, 'Where are the men who came into you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have intercourse with them.' "
So, yes, homosexuality was a big problem there. Jude 7 says, "Sodom and Gomorrah........had gone out after flesh for unnatural use...."
I'm sure that was one reason among many.

If you read the story in Scripture you would see the answer, Yes, God destroyed Sodom because of homosexuality Sodom get its name from sodomites, which is homosexuality. I can not believe the avatar that said it wasn't about homosexuality, but about them and the angels. Excuse me, all the men in the city compassed the house, both old and young, hollering unto Lot to bring the men ( who were angels of God ) out so "that we may know them" ( Genesis 19:4-5 ). "That we may know them" means they wanted to have sexual relations with them. It's not about what people think, but about what God says. Make no mistake, judgement is coming to America. You can have all the Gay alliances / human rights committees you want, but when God puts the last period on your life......they will not be able to save your soul from damnation.

The biblical monster, supposedly, murdered all those people because he did not approve of who they slept with??? Oh yea that makes a lot of sense.
