Yes I belief in Karma, but the issue is a rather complex one. To enforce order in society and keep the powerful in power Karma had been abused as an argument for their better position, implying they deserve to have it better because they are better and that everyone can get a good life by being obedient. This is NOT an idea I support.
I do belief that one has a nature, which implies rights and duties. I also belief that one who over steps their rights and disobeys their duties will suffer from Karma. If one is unable to bear the responsibility it will eventually be taken from them. Karma however judges not between good and bad, but between rights and duties. A person can be quite evil, but still remain unpunished by the lords of Karma and their servants. Furthermore Karma is an energy, which can be diverted and manipulated. It can be transfered between people, similar to a criminal fooling the justice system and framing someone else for a crime. A skillfull magician can postpone Karma for many lives.
Karma is however just one of the many forces working upon us and not the single deciding factor. It is merely a measure of our potential and how well we live up to it. If we do so well our options will be increased if we fare poorly we are given easier lives. Disabilities are not a sign of bad Karma, since such lives can be as productive as any other.
Both by walking the dark and the light path we can rise in power and if we wield this power well obtain Karmic rewards, since the universe needs both saviours and executioners. However to rise in Karma we need to restrain ourselves so we do not act disharmoniously.
Karma is however not a path of rising in consciousness, merely a path of rising in power. Karma can be a favorable condition for spiritual development, but it is not spiritual development in itself.

I'm rather mixed about the karma thing, because unlike what the media wants you to believe, "bad people" don't always get punished somehow for their actions.
As for children's suffering, how is that tied to karma? Doesn't all walks of life have suffering in some kind of form?

Are you implying that if one believes in karma then they also believe the children deserve the suffering they go through? How do you come up with that one? I can understand that only if you include believing in reincarnation along with karma, because then they are receiving in another life what they wrought in a previous one.
And for people who say "everything happens for a reason, "DUH". That's called causality (cause and effect). Everything happens because of a cause, and then that makes something else happen. That's not the same thing as saying everything happens for a good reason or that everything happens through intelligent design. If that's what you mean the that is what you should say.

No I don't believe in karma. I am a Christian. The concept of karma is from eastern religions such as Hinduism, Budhism, etc.
Much suffering in this world is due to man's sinful nature. Due to greed, money and food that is intended to reach suffering children is diverted in some cases. Due to sin, parents, caregivers and sometimes strangers have physically or emotionally hurt children.
Those who have truly accepted Jesus strive to do what is right in God's eyes. Children are a blessing from God. They need to be cared for and trained in the way they should go.
Christians do not believe in the concept of reincarnation. We each have one life to live, and after that we face God. If we have truly accepted Jesus as our Savior we spend eternity in heaven with God.
I think many eastern religions like the concept of karma, to avoid helping the most poor. When people can be labeled as untouchables and given the worst jobs, and then be blamed on top of it for getting in that situation due to their supposed poorly lived out past life, that allows others to have bettter jobs and take advantage of them.

Sometimes good people suffer in this life and in the after-life they are closer with G-d. On the flip side sometimes bad people are exalted in this life and when they die they have no rewards and are obliterated so the space they wasted can be filled with righteous energy. Karma does not always mean paying for something "wrong" that you have done. It can also mean working hard or "suffering" to reap greater rewards later on.

Are you sure you're phrasing the question properly? Children suffer because terrible things sometimes happen to them. Karma doesn't have anything to do with it. Just because you want an explanation for why terrible things happen to children doesn't mean there is one.

Well, karma is mostly connected with Buddhism and Hinduism. And with those religions, they believe in reincarnation. Therefore, children suffering is due to things in past lives.

Do you know the bible at all? There is a bit called the temptation of Christ where Satan says to Jesus something like 'if you bow down to me, then you shall have everything as far as your eye can see'. Now, how could Satan offer this to Christ if he didn't possess it? I follow the logic that, Satan said to God 'here mate, I could run that planet better than you' and God said 'do it then and your rulership will be so c..p that everyone will see you for the no good swine you really are'. So, very sad old God is waiting to take back possession of our planet from the evil ruler who allows all sorts of terrible things to happen'. God aint happy about it but if he stepped in too soon, he wouldn't have made his point that Satan was evil. So, when he does step in - which isn't long away according to the bible, things will get back to normal and there will be no more suffering or illness or death. From the start to the end of Satans rulership is a mere blink of an eye in God-terms but it feels pretty ropey at this end! So, thats why all of this is happening and getting worse. Its predicted in the book of Revelations. Fascinating stuff and a good logical Christian approach - unlike a lot of others that I hear flying about from people who clearly never have read the bible!
