I was raised Methodist. My parents were Methodist, as were both sets of Grandparents. I always believed the "facts" of Christianity, but I never had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ until I attended an Assemblies of God church with a friend at age 16. It was there I asked Jesus into my heart and began a personal relationship with Him. I still worship in the Assemblies of God [A/G] church [32 years later] as I believe it has the best interpretation of Scripture. I'm not saying the A/G is the way to Heaven, only JESUS is the way to Heaven. In my life, the A/G was the way to Jesus. I respect all other denominations. There is only one God and He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. God looks on the heart, not at what building we go to on Sundays.

My church (seventh-Day Adventist) grew to become into born out of the Millerite circulate around 1844 (a team made up as a rule of Methodists and different Bible-believing Christians) after the "great sadness". human beings had mistakenly believed that Jesus might return in 1844, so whilst He did no longer take place, they went returned to their Bibles to re-learn the prophecies to confirm the place they went incorrect. Ellen White did no longer discovered the SDA church - she did no longer grow to be favourite until the turn of the century, yet human beings believed that she grew to become right into a favorite prophetess, one in all the spoken of in Acts 2:17 and Joel 2:28.

I would say my denomination is catholic and my faith goes as far back as the Sermon on the Mount being traced through Jesus only. =)

The traditions of the United Methodist Church date back to the18th century. Its protestant roots, however, go back to Luther (of course....).
