I dont hunt but if i looked at it in another light then i think i can understand.
It is progress isnt it and money for the rich people who want more money than they need and push us little folk out who they see as, we dont count.
I agree with you yes i would be upset and angry but as to what you could do i dont know, protest, petition or as someone said buy some of the land if you can. I know this is a bit extreme but it might be one way.
I wish you all the best with this.
I dont agree with it but everyone to there own, i hope you get your deer before they build.

If there is a site recognized on the National Register of Historic Places, then there are a number of hoops that must be jumped through, if possible. There should also be a mandated period for public comment. Get involved in the process.

Presumably, you are trespassing to hunt, then.

I agree, get involved in the process. You can't tell the owner who he can sell his land to but if you get enough people in the community involved you might have a say in what goes up on the property. Go to city hall and ask around until you get to the right person and hopefully that will set you on your way. You may have to get a clipboard and go door to door for signatures and you may even have to organize meetings but if this property means enough to you then you'll give it a try even if it seems futile and turns out to be in vain.

I would be pissed too, by the way!

Let's put that in other words and see if it sounds the same, shall we?

Your neighbor owns 70 acres of land next door to you and you want *him* to be forced to keep it in the condition that *you* want it to be in because *your* opinion of *his property* means more than his, the actual *owner*?

Put differently, what do you think your chances are of success if you went to your next door neighbor and demanded that he paint his house blue because it's *your* favorite color?

If you want to keep that land wild and keep hunting it, then BUY it yourself. Don't demand that someone else be forced to use their property to suit you. That's called "zoning" and around here, people have been killed over it.

Me, I'd rather lose all my local private hunting land than to have someone come in and tell me what I can or can't do with my land to suit *their* opinion.

Yes of course losing my hunting lnd would frustrate me. But you are going to be the little guy, you'll have to either buy the land yourself or find another area to hunt.
Happy hunting

hi there
yes it would upset me also, but it happens all the time here in canada, city folk retiring to a nice little farm in the country, intantly posted, and most of them are trying to get away from the terrors of the city , so they don't want to see a gun, getting harder to find a quiet place to hunt

Yes. I hate housing projects and condos. They're taking over the world...

How much more beautiful land can they destroy, how many more historical landmarks can they tear down for cheap, tawdry condos...

I empathize with you, but you will have to find some other hunting ground to hunt on.*

Stuff happens, it's an imperfect world. Get used to it, or at least learn to live with it, or become bitter and twisted... like me ;-)
