each tiny tadpole is the promise of a new fundie. each unfertilized egg is the death of hope for a new generation.

tragic, isn't it?

dammit, i had a searing response for the fake-pharmacist fundie nutjob, but he deleted his question while i was typing!

It all depends on what you want to believe, that the baby is born when the sperm hits the egg or upon birth. The bible actually is of two minds on this. On one hand, it says specifically that the soul enters the body upon the first breath, on the other it says one specific embryo, that of John the Baptist, jumped for joy upon meeting the Embryonic Jesus.
Me, I'm not Christian, so I use my own common sense, intellect and conscience as a guide. And I fall somewhere in the middle. I think there shouldn't be 3rd trimester abortions unless there is a medical danger to the mother. This leaves the 1st and 2nd trimester open for reasonable, non-government intervened abortions.

It doesn't. If the person taking it is a perfect user, then the egg is never released. Sperm can't get into the ovary, no matter how hard they swim.

If the user is a shoddy one, the egg may release. However, cervical mucus builds up, greatly slowing the sperm's speed, reducing the chances the egg ever gets fertilized.
If the egg ends up getting fertilized, it likely won't implant because the uterine lining doesn't build up much while on the pill. A fertilized egg that doesn't implant into the uterine wall has no chance of ever "being a baby."

It is my understanding that the most common forms of birth control do NOT kill babies, they inhibit the ability of the sperm to reach and/or implant the egg.

There are newer forms, like the "morning after" pill, that may be closer to something along the lines of terminating a pregnancy already in progress, but I'm not real sure, haven't heard or read enough about it to say one way or the other.

birth control doesnt kill babies. even if it was fertilized, it didnt stay inside the "mother" and never begins to grow.

on the abortion subject everyone else is pulling in, i think abortion should be more accepted. it should not be painful at all for the fetus and the mom should not be at risk of dying and it has to be authorized by the government, much like doctors have to practice with a liscense. originally, condoms were also viewed as "baby killing" so hopefully in time, birth control and abortion will be more accepted.

quite often the blastocyte falls off the walls all by itself and dies too. That pharmacist has me so irked right now I can't even run my errands over at Walgreens. Grrrrrr! I'm busting out the eggnog.

Anyway don't hormonal contraceptives prevent ovulation? I need some more eggnog.

Yes, I saw that to. It doesn't kill babies. It prevents them by preventing ovulation. So it's not even like there are all these eggs floating down the fallopian tube that aren't being fertilized because of birth control. The eggs aren't being released, just sittin' there.

It doesn't kill babies. Unfortunately, some people treat abortion as a form of birth control, meaning, they don't practice birth control, but as soon as they get an unwanted pregnancy, to the abortionist they must go!

In my very own personal and humble opinion there are two kinds of birth control.
The contraceptives where the impregnation is prevented, such as the use of the condom.
The micro-abortives where the impregnated egg is expelled, such as the IUD.

I lean more toward the contraceptives.

[edit]
Excuse my poor English. Apparently the word I should have used is "fertilize".
