In terms of sweetness, I recommend getting an extra dry (which is actually in the middle where Brut is the most dry).

In terms of good value for a reasonable price. There are several. The spanish "champagne's" are good values. Like:

Frexinet Cordon *****

Cordoniu

American sparkeling wines that are good and reasonable are:

Korbel

Chatau St Michelle

The most expensive wine above is Korbel at somewhere under 15. The rest are 10 or under.

Lastly, if you really want sweet, then a spumanti is the way to go. Like Martini and Rossi Asti Spumanti.

Good Luck

If you are looking for something that is sweet and not too expensive to share with your guests maybe you should try prossecco. It will be less expensive than champagne because the grapes do not come from the champagne valley and is the Italian version of champagne. It is made the same way champagne is so do not worry. I do not know where you are located and what is considered too cheap but Villa Jolanda is an Italian prossecco with soft undertones of peach. This bottle will run you 11-13 dollars. Marques de Monistrol is a Cava Rose Brut that is pink in color and is very bubbly. This particular prossecco has berryish flavor although it has some bite and will run you 14-15 dollars. It comes from Spain. A traditional prossecco that is loved by all,(although not sweet, but not too brut or dry) is Zardetto's and a bottle will run you 19-20 dollars. Keep in mind that you get discounts for buying cases so take about 10% off a case of these prices and that is what you will spend. I served prossecco at my wedding and it was wonderful! Nobody knew the difference and it was easy on the wallet. Hope this helps!

If it's sweet, then it's not champagne. You're looking for a sparkling wine and there are tons of them on the market, but to keep it elegant, I would go with a Spumante (Italian sparkling wine).

They're inexpensive for the most part and even more so if you get them at a wholesale club like Costco, or Sam's Club. Some major brand names are Ballatore, Martini and Rossi, but the brand doesn't matter. As long as it's a Spumante, it'll be sweet.

Many people don't care for sweet wines and your guests may not either. In this case you can get a regular dry champagne like Freixenet (Spanish Kava) which goes for about 10 dollars a bottle (most wine shops give you 10 to 15% off if you buy by the case) and but a small crystal bowl of sugar lumps on the table. You put the lump of sugar in the glass first and pour the champagne on top. It will make the champagne bubble up a lot more so it's important to put the sugar in first.

I tremendously suggest Ballatore. It could be very moderately priced and you'll be able to get it at locations like Smart & Final, Costco & Sam's Club. It has an great style. I have advocated it to lots of my brides and after style checking out, all of them selected it as their #a million option. In such a lot weddings, the champagne not ever runs out given that nobody fairly beverages it. It is simply used to take a sip for the duration of the toasts. However, Ballatore is so scrumptious, that during the entire weddings I have produced, which used Ballatore, we continuously ran out of champagne and had persons soliciting for extra. Try a style experiment and I'm definite you'll be satisfied. Congratualtions to your upcoming nuptials and well good fortune!

Well for cheap, Cooks. People swore I paid $30 a bottle for it, it was that good. But I'd recommend Mumms demi-sec. It's one of my favorites. It's somewhere betwee $19-$25 depending on where you are.

Ballatori, Spu Monti? I am not sure how to spell it, but if you are buying in bulk, I think it is great, I have had many friends use it in their weddings.
