I am studying with JW right now and I am confused right now, cause I am not sure that is what I want to believe. I love Christmas, that is my favorite time of year and JW's don't celebrate that holiday. And I don't know if I am ready to give that up. I Love the people that I am studying with. Don't get me wrong. They are beautiful people. But I am not sure, I am confused. I do read the Bible and I believe in the Bible, it is a true Book and I know it don't lie, but I just don't know what I want. God Bless.

the JW's are a religion and religion is man made. Spiritual is God Made. But at the same time as saying this you will learn a lot about the Bible and how to read the Bible and know your scriptures.
They can be good people and I too like you have been around the witness's a lot but I am looking for the love that Jesus said that we would know his people for. Its not religion. But the love we show each other and everyone else.
JW's are good for a lot of people who need more restrains. But the Bible also said to keep looking and questioning. So continue in your questions and looking for the answers.

Dear Believer In God I am a JW. I understand that you find difficult to change something you believe. Every change must be done by your heart and not because JW or any other tell you. I think that JW already shown you info about Christmas and its origins. I just want to give you an example. Think the Jews Christians of the first century. They followed the Mosaic Law, their life was around it. When Jesus died for all of us the Mosaic Law stopped. All these festivals stopped etc. Many Jews Christians had problems of adaptability. Think, some of them 17 years later continued to believe in circumcision. But after logical explanation of the Scriptures they understood what was correct. Something similar happen nowadays. Jehovah give us free will, it depends on us how will use it.
Greetings to my dear brothers.

Well the identical means that we have got a private title and could love to be referred to as by way of our title as an alternative of Man, Woman, Boy & so forth is the identical means that God feels. Psalms eighty three:18 says "May humans understand that you just, whose title is Jehovah,You by myself are the Most High over the entire earth." The undeniable fact that his title is stated within the Bible suggests God desires his title to be identified & considering we're his witnesses or fans, we're referred to as Jehovah's Witnesses.

When you said, "I believe in God and Jesus. I know that Jesus is God's only begotten son and that he died for our sins. I am very grateful for that. I do have Jesus in my heart." you said it all.
It's true that the Witnesses do not view the December holiday as anything but another day saying that it is only a 'covered over pagan day' ..Saturnalia or something like that.
As a point of history, it _is_ a pagan date, taken over by the christian church; probably to make it easier for non-christians to accept the holiday and the church.
Anyway, a little Christmas celebration isn't going to send you to hell, nor is membership in the JW church.
They are christians. They accept that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. They accept that Jesus died and rose again from the dead. They spread that word.
They pass the test as christians.
The sticking points are minor, e.g., they say 'torture stake', other christians say 'cross'; they don't celebrate Easter (another overtaken pagan date) nor Christmas.
They do follow Jesus' great commission, to make disciples of all the nations (ref Matt 28:18-20)

i do understand where you are coming from. Christmas was my favorite time of year also. I loved watching my children on Christmas morning opening their gifts!! But I had to make a stand and do what I knew was pleasing to God. Not what I wanted, but what he wanted. Pagan festivals are very displeasing to Him, so we know that if we participate we are displeasing him. I know it is very hard to give up something that you enjoy doing, but it is also VERY rewarding knowing that you are doing right in the eyes of Jehovah. I know that other family members who are not into the truth can play very heavy on your heart, not to mention the rest of the world with their Merry Christmas' and so forth. But please remember that Jesus said that he was no part of this world and that the world hated him first. So, I know it is hard....been there. I do hope you pray to Jehovah on this matter, and it help if you attend meetings. The brothers and sisters really keep you strong with the help of Jehovah.

Hi,
You are doing the best thing you could possibly do by continuing your study with JW's. The reason that they are what you refer to as "great people" is because they emphasize applying what the bible teaches in their life. The bible is the guide line that they use to get God's view on things in order to be pleasing to him and have the opportunity for eternal life. I remember when I first started studying with them and felt a little bit the same way. I just kept studying and noticing that I kept saying to myself, "Well this sounds right, or "That makes sense." then eventually all the pieces of the puzzle fit and I said "Yes, this is it I am ready to get baptised." I studied for quite a while untill I was ready to dedicate myself with baptism and I am so happy I did. So stick with it and I believe that all of your questions will be answered.

I am sending you some links to help with the answers that you asked above. I hope you enjoy them.

Here are a few paragraphs from the link below:

THE Christmas season is here. What does that mean to you, your family, and your associates? Is it a spiritual occasion, or is it only a festive and merry period? Is it a time to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ or not to be concerned about Christian norms?

In his book The Trouble With Christmas, author Tom Flynn set out conclusions reached after years spent researching Christmas:

"An enormous number of traditions we now associate with Christmas have their roots in pre-Christian pagan religious traditions. Some of these have social, sexual, or cosmological connotations that might lead educated, culturally sensitive moderns to discard the traditions once they have understood their roots more clearly."—Page 19.

After presenting a mass of supporting information, Flynn returns to the basic point: "One of the great ironies of Christmas is how little of its content is truly Christian. Once we dispose of the pre-Christian elements, most of what remains is post-Christian, rather than authentically Christian, in origin."—Page 155.

Here are a few paragraphs from another link I am sending:

How vital is it to know the truth? Many religions today, while claiming to follow the Bible, are largely influenced by human philosophies and traditions. Often, religious leaders seem not as concerned with the accuracy of their message as they are with its acceptance by the masses. Some feel that God is satisfied with any form of worship, as long as it is sincere. But Jesus Christ explained: "The hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for, indeed, the Father is looking for suchlike ones to worship him."—John 4:23.

If we want to worship God acceptably, we must know the truth. This is an important issue. Our eternal happiness depends on it. Therefore, everyone should ask himself: 'Is my way of worship acceptable to God? Am I genuinely interested in learning the truth of God's Word? Or am I afraid of what a careful investigation might reveal?'

The JWs don't believe that Jesus was God in the flesh. Nor do they believe in the trinity (Godhead including Father, Son and Holy Spirit). Jesus was an angel trying His best to do God's will in a fallen world. This is the difference between all religions that are useless and the one relationship that can save. Jesus is God and must have been in order to be enough to atone for every sin that was ever committed with His death on the cross. That death being the gift to mankind so all can go to heaven if they only trust in this death as the atonement for their own sin. The JWs must work their way into heaven knowing that most of them won't (and don't want) to go there. Most JWs believe they will be living on a perfect earth, not in heaven. They believe that 144,000 thousand will go to heaven to live with God while the rest stay on paradise earth.
The JWs also have their own Bible. They have re written parts of the real Bible (based on the Dead Sea Scrolls and other ancient documents) to fit their beliefs. One big change is John 1:1. In the beginning was the Word (referring to Jesus), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The JWs have added a word in this verse that is not in the original texts. They say that the Word was a god (as if referring to one of many which we can become). There are other examples, too. Apparently they have their own scholars but will not reveal any names. All reputable (even secular) Greek scholars disagree with their rendition.
Don't want to get to wordy since their is a great website regarding this.

I do question certain things about them. But I will build them up and not tear them down. For me the "True Religion" is a toss up between the JW's and Islam. Both are highly respectable to God Almighty and gives Him "full, complete reverence". That is what I like about both religion.
I don't know if Muslims believe in Armageddon and there-after. JW's got one big flaw on one of their laws that is not approved by God Almighty. If they correct that one flaw, I consider they are the righteous ones under Christ Jesus.

It's not easy period.

We have and are and going to be making alot of sacrifices

Christmas if you look into it is a pagan Holiday. Remember when Satan sees that someone is doing something that they should be doing for God.. that is when he tries hard for that person to fall.

I've been their many times and I bet alot of others have been too.

Just put in under prayer and he will answer and give you th strength that you will need.
