Start with the social security office. You will need to bring in your marriage license. Then you can change your driver's license and everything else.

Correction in Texas you have to go to the Social Security office first. That is the legal name change. The DPS office cant change your name til the SS office does it. than you can change your license, bank accounts, and anything that needs to be changed.

Edit~ you dont have to change it with the IRS as posted below me. The SSA will change it for you. This is from the IRS government website.

IRS records are generally updated 10 days after the records at the Social Security Administration are changed.

first you start with ss and then dmv and everything eles falls in line easy like 1-2-3
I see that you change your name and use the maiden name replacement by your middle name, please take this advise if you ever get out the marriage for nay reason it is hard to get your maiden name back that cost money some where like 500.00 or more dollars. use put a dash in between you maidan and married name that why you can drop it at no cost. i learned the hard way and i had to pay just to get my own name back...
it should look like this ( jan doe-doe

I went to the DMV first. (Social Security was glad, because it is less paperwork for them if you bring in your new license first...at least in PA. Check with the office where you live.)

Then I went to Social Security, IRS, bank, credit cards, utilities. Don't forget to change your IRS records, or you'll have trouble come tax time. Getting your records changed at SSA is not enough. Until your new name is on file with the tax man, your new name is not complete!

Yeah, you need to get your social security card changed (you can get the form online and fill it out ahead of time), and then go to the DMV and with your marriage license and get your name changed there (you can get the form for that online as well), you will want to change all your information at work, but you need your new SS card and license first. You need to change your name at the bank. You will also need to change your name at all your doctor's offices and your pharmacist. I just carried my marriage license around with me for the first two months so that way anytime I went anywhere new I could change it.

Go on-line to Social Security and print and fill out the necessary form...do the same for DMV.

Do social security, dmv, then banks and credit cards and utilities, etc....Don't forget to also change your name at work and on your benefits. It sounds like a pain, but once you do ss and dmv, the rest is a piece of cake.

First you need to change your Social security , then go to the dmv because at the dmv they ask for your marriage license and your new social security card . then once you receive you new drivers license then you can change your info with the bank and the credit card companies.

start at the social security office. depending on your state's laws, you might not be able to change your middle name as easily as your last name. you might want to look that up beforehand.

Social Security Office.

Then the DMV.

Then work, then your bank, then any credit cards and subscriptions you may have, any online sites you frequent, etc.
