Any SATA 2.5" HDD will do it. Sony recommends using 5400 RPM. Look here:

Yes, all of the PS3's can be upgraded to a bigger hard drive. The largest hardrive that can be put into the PS3 is a 250GB Hard drive. Any Sata 2.5" Laptop hard drive is compatible with the PS3.

Here in the U.S., a 100GB hard drive can be purchased for about $79.99 brand new. I've seen some 250GB hard drives for around $179.99 brand new, but they will be even less if they are refurbished.

I don't know of any retail stores in the U.K. that sells electronics, so I'll suggest some websites. I know that sites like Amazon.com and Ebay.com have plenty of compatible hard drives that the PS3 can use.

of direction you may play on line! You get the top same unfastened on line provider because of the fact the different variations of the PS3. you have wireless outfitted in and an ethernet port interior the back. no longer something mandatory as nicely a instantaneous internet connection, or in case you like a under pressure out connection, you like an ethernet cable ($2-3) you probable have some ethernet cables mendacity around the homestead. No problems with it over at my end.
