"Everything you need you already have. You are complete right now, you are a whole, total person, not an apprentice person on the way to someplace else." -- Wayne Dyer

"Wherever you are is always the right place. There is never a need to fix anything, to hitch up the bootstraps of the soul and start at some higher place. Start right where you are."-- Julia Cameron

What are your thoughts (spiritually speaking) when you read them?

I enjoyed those quotes, thanks for sharing.

I think a few answerers missed a small point, though. I think the quotes do advocate being content with who we are but I also think that are suggesting that we look within ourselves for personal growth instead of looking to outside sources and external factors for growth and happiness.

More than a little off base - but that is the problem - there is just enough truth to make it sound good. Obviously.. not everything is alive, the mysteries of life have a great deal to do with intelligence - What the heck does "The universe is not an intellectual process" mean? and the last sentence is just skewed - we need to think for ourselves when we see this stuff. Be very afraid.

I agree that we start right where we are - it's kind of hard not to. However, we should always strive for something greater.

With the first one, again, you may be complete, but that doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't strive for more. I would argue that we are more at the end of our lives than we were at the beginning.

Spiritually, I feel it's great validation for who you are right now, but wish it gave more motivation for what we could be.

They are inspirational and unlock our minds to ourselves, so that we will have the courage to look within ourselves for the truth. The encourage us to stay the way we are instead of changing to meat the expectations of others.

Blessed Be.

These statements come from the heart of "New Thought". I agree with them wholeheartedly. We make our reality based upon our perception and perspectives. If you believe that you are the product of a "fallen" humanity, you will always fall short of your true potential.

Interesting. It sounds like the point they are trying to make is that you are ok the way you are. I would agree that at this moment you are perfect but I would hope that at the next moment you are growing and changing.

They're nice in that they advocate accepting yourself where you are right now; but I think there is a point when a person needs to intentionally stretch his/her boundaries and seek personal growth.

That's very beautiful, and reminds me of a quote that I heard on a Meshell Ndegeocelo album:

"You are, in truth, the truth you seek."

it's a way to stop chasing the world without getting off it.
