I'm like Amanda M's husband. I have urticaria, which is an allergy. I come out in welts etc and get extremely itchy when I'm cold. Maybe that's what you have. Talk to your doctor about it.

Dry skin.

If you use some coconut oil or a good moisturizer right when you get out of the bath/shower as soon as you put your towel down, pick up your moisturizer and put it on your legs, arms, face, hands, feet, you should get immediate relief. You will lock in the moisture that the water provides. If you wait even 5 minutes, you will defeat the purpose of this technique because your skin will be too dry. If you take baths, you can put oil in the water - 2 Tablespoons should be enough and follow up with moisturizer as soon as you are finished towel drying.

If not, then go to a dermatologist for something stronger.

Since you have prefaced this with "cold" being the reason that starts your hands and feet to itch, perhaps you just have some ignima to the cold - try Sarna Lotion, or go to the closest GNC store and confer with the manager. THere are all kinds of reasons - could be diabetes, could be anything. Don't fall into second guessing - tell your doctor.

Are you a pretty tall person? My guess is that you have very poor circulation. You can test this by taking the pinky finger of your left hand and squeezing the nailbed. Count how long it takes for color to return to the nailbed, if it's over 1-2 seconds, then it's too long.

I know this is going to sound weird, but it's true. My husband is allergic to the cold. (I know, but it's really a thing.) If he gets too cold, he breaks out in whelps and itches real bad. Maybe you have this?

Ask your doctor about an exercise routine. Regular exercise, such as walking three times a week, may reduce neuropathy pain, improve your muscle strength and help control blood sugar levels. Gentle routines such as yoga and tai chi might also help.

The cold weather can affect your skin like in the summer time with too much sunburn.
