Do you think it is possible for 2 people to love each other but still have happy successful relationships with other people?

I''m stuck in the middle of 2 friends from high school. We've all been friends for about 10 years & they dated for about 6 months, 2 years ago. They each come and talk to me about their relationships & say that they love the person they are with & that they are happy. He started dating a girl about a year ago & is currently living with her. She started dating a guy a few months ago & are talking about moving in together. They both have confided in me that they still love each other, they even tell each other "I still love you" & flirt through text messages all day while they are at work. I don't see how either of their relationships are going to work if they continue this kind of "friendship" but I might be wrong. I just want to see them happy no matter if that is together or not. I've told both of them to either to truly be just friends or get back together.

That seems weird to me. Maybe they don't really grasp the full significance of loving someone.
