Actually people don't need to "sacrifice" much. We just need to do things more efficiently.

We don't need to give up cars, we need cars powered by something else. And so forth.

Yes there are costs. But they're not huge, certainly by comparison to the costs of unmitigated global warming. Details here.

Absolutely nothing. This planet has been getting hot and getting cold for literally BILLIONS of years! This is nothing new. Just because we haven't been around for the vast majority of its shifts, and we're around for one now, (which could be a period of only a few hundred years like it was less than 1000 years ago) doesn't mean that we're causing it. It's preposterous to think we have that much control over a planet. A PLANET! It's almost arrogant to think that. Not to mention, those who say they're "green" and want to counter global warming, you are full of crap. The question even says so "what would you be willing to sacrifice?" meaning that there will come a point when you say global warming is bad, but my lifestyle and it's destructive ways are better for me. If you people don't realize that buying these "green" products often times is doing more damage indirectly and in the long run then you are blind. It takes more energy to make and ship a compact fluorescent light bulb that it could ever save in use. If you think it's such a worthy cause, why do you still drive at all? There are other modes of transportation. Bicycles, solar powered cars (if you spend enough, you can get one), walking . . . If you're so environmentally conscious, then you should probably put energy efficient windows and doors on your house, but wait, houses are energy consumers too! So that must mean you shouldn't live in a house either. It takes too much energy to build, maintain and live in one. You should go back to living in grass huts. You want to see truly "green" people? Look at native secluded tribes in South America. They're only green because that's the way they've lived for 1000's of years. They consume little to no energy. Point being that all this "sacrificing" and "green" stuff is just a bunch of bogus, feel-good, crap that people convince themselves is good for the environment and gives them something to look down upon others who don't cave in to this insanity. Too bad so sad. Fact is, people are only willing to do only as much as they can without stretching their pocket books or giving up they way they want to live. If you really believe that, ok. I disagree with the whole stance, but I can at least respect you for following through. To everyone else, I say put up, or shut up!

I would be willing to drive a small electric car to work and back, especially if the government would agree not to tax me for the electricity that I use.

In order to reduce my energy bills, I have replaced an old inefficient heat and air system with a new high efficiency heat pump. I have replaced single pane windows and doors with new dual pane and increased my insulation. I have changed light bulbs to compact fluorescent. I have been recycling for years.

Good question By the way.
I have been trying to stop my family doing harmful things such as smoking, leaving the taps running and driving to places they can walk to.

I would walk to school instead of going on the bus or getting my mother to drive me. Thats about it, i cant think at the moment.

Nothing, since it's a natural cycle of the planet we live on and I'm sacrificing enough already. By living in a crappy apartment that's cold in the winter and too hot in the summer.

When the idiot Al Gore starts sacrificing 1% more then he does then I might stop letting my car warm up 10 minutes before I go to the mail box.
