Hey guys my dog finally had her pups..11 total. I was wondering what would be a good adoption price for chocolate lab/pitbull mix pups that will be up to date on shots, wormings, and come with spay or nueter contracts? They are only a day old and I'm not finding them homes until they are atleast 8 weeks old..just wondering what you guys would say is a fair adoption fee for the pups?

mama dog wasnt ours to begin with our neighbors just put her out but I do also plan on getting her spayed and finding her a home too being that she makes our 5th dog. She's a full blooded chocolate lab..what would be a good adoption price for her being she is full grown, very sweet, but very shy and timid..her previous owners abused her

The local pound requires $75 for an unaltered dog. Since you are "selling" mutts that anyone could find in the shelter...I suggest you match Animal Control's price.

Go online to different rescue groups websites (you can find them @ Petfinder) and see what they charge.

When I adopt out kittens I charge $85 which includes their first distemper (and sometimes a second, if I have them longer than expected) Deworming, flea treatment and spay/neuter @ 6 months of age). The adoption fee usually does not cover what you actually spent, I work for a Vet so I get reduced prices for services and the $85 still didn't cover my expenses.

I've never dealt with dog/puppy adoption so I'm not sure what would be a fair price. However, like I said...see what other places are charging and you'll get a better idea.

Also, be sure to make up a adoption contract, you can also "copy" a contract from another rescue group if you can find one online. This way, you'll have something in writing stating the pups have to be spayed/neutered etc.

$50. That should cover first shots and worming per pup.

To get people to honor the spay/neuter deposit, you can charge $70, and when they bring back proof from the vet that the pup has been fixed, they get $20 back. That way you're still getting the $50, and if they don't bring the proof, there's an extra $20. But with the way most people are these days, they'll want to get that $20 back, so they'd have to honor the spay/neuter contract.

I would suggest figureing up cost of all that has to be done to the pups before rehoming. Most adoption clinics charge $40, but they also give you a certificate for spay and neuter worth $30. Maybe the money you get from the pups will support the cost of spay for mom. Good Luck!!

I would start finding them homes now, so you can kind of get to know the adopters before you actually give them a puppy. I would ask for the cost of shots/worming. Spay and neuter contracts mean nothing unless your going to follow up and they're written so that you can either seek legal action to make them spay/neuter if they dont or so you can repossess the dog if they don't fulfill their contractual obligations. Make sure you do vet checks, as in get the number to their vet and call and make sure they vaccinate their other pets and provide heartworm meds, etc.

Mixed breed dog... I'd charge the price of the vetting expenses. $50-$100

in your case, since you don't have any kind of papers for the dogs, it would be fair to ask the cost of the puppies' vet bills. Just make it clear that they have had all of their shots.

If you aren't able to find homes for all of them in a reasonable time. Then contact a rescue group about taking them to find homes for them.

Good Luck!

About $50 is about it. You can have a spay/neuter agreement, but they will be really hard to enforce. It is not like you can use the AKC limited registration to ensure puppies cannot be registered. You can just HOPE that people will honor their word.

At least $100. You don't want someone adopting a dog if they can't afford to have a dog.
