Actually dancing is considered an anaerobic (anaerobic means it doesn't get your heart rate up for a extended period of time) exercise not aerobic. Although I do dance myself and I feel it is aerobic to get a good cardiovascular work out run for a long distance or go on the elliptical machine and set it on the cardio setting. But by scientific standards it does not count as cardiovascular but if you can maintain a high heart rate then you could count it but by standards it is not.

You bet. Dancing is one of the best cardiovascular exercises because of the motions you go through. It is one of the activities that engages your arms, legs, torso, etc in a wide range of motions which use multiple muscle groups. This is extremely beneficial because muscles you may not normally use to a great extent get the opportunity to move. I recommend you keep dancing into the future and never look back. Just don't overdo it, which can be done with any activity. Have a cool down period of slower dance if you normally start your routine to fast pace music. This is because if you stop any activity that requires large amounts of energy suddenly, lactic will build up. Lactic acid is the waste product of your muscles after burning energy and using up oxygen provided by your red blood cells which usually causes cramping if it builds up too suddenly. So with that in mind, keep it up! Hope this helps, stay healthy.

Of course it does! Anytime you stress the cardiac muscle, and your heart rate goes up, you are exercising that muscle. Do understand that you must increase your heart rate to a certain level, and SUSTAIN that level for a length of time. Find out what your target heart rate should be for you, and aim for that.
Keep up the exercising! Remember, your heart will not regenerate muscle. The heart muscle is considered 'smooth' muscle...and you only have once life to keep it healthy! Way to stay on the right track!

Yes, look at it this way, I use the treadmill for the same thing. I raise my heart rate for 40 minutes and you are doing the same thing with dance.

Anything that gets your heart pumping and your blood flowing is technically exercise. Dance would be an excelent form of exercise.
